Jeff witnesses this and shoots Amanda in the neck. Amanda's motivation for creating unbeatable traps may stem from jealousy, as she wants to prevent Jigsaw from choosing other apprentices and preserving their exclusive relationship. Other apprentices, like Mark Hoffman, have also built impossible traps.
It is revealed that Amanda cuts herself in her stress, and she recollects speaking with John and kidnapping Adam prior to the events of the first film.
Amanda was targeted by Jigsaw because of her past as a drug addict, hence taking her health or life for granted. Her trap is depicted in a flashback while it is described to police and Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Portrayed by Cary Elwes) as a testimony, as Dr. Gordon was a prime suspect in her trap initially.

It's revealed that after surviving her game, Amanda came to see John Kramer as a mentor and father figure, and decided to work with him on future traps that would hopefully lead others to the same life-saving realization she reached.
Sadly, Hoffman lost his way when Jigsaw died, to the point he developed a rivalry with Kramer's wife and the woman who lost her child due to Amanda's past: Jill. Hoffman ended up killing Jill after she rigged her own game to teach Hoffman a lesson on behalf of Kramer.
She loved John like a father, examples of her love being when she started to break down when he started seizing during his surgery and is defensive of him when people call him murderer.
However, when Strahm was killed at the end of Saw V, Hoffman survived until Saw 3D. While Hoffman's fate is left unknown at the end of Saw 3D, the writers' commentary confirmed that Hoffman didn't escape from the Bathroom and died there.
He agrees to join Jigsaw to avoid being exposed for a murder he committed to avenge his sister death. Hoffman staged the murder to look like a Jigsaw crime, hoping to get away with it. Jigsaw knows Hoffman did it, so he abducts him and blackmails him into coming along with him.
While John has limited screen time in that first movie, it's implied that his motivation is the knowledge that he is unfairly losing his life while other people lie, deceive, and otherwise waste their own. Seemingly born out of resentment towards these people, he becomes Jigsaw.
Amanda loves Jigsaw very much and considers him her father (though her faith in him and his philosophy clearly deteriorates). However, this love does not redeem anybody, and instead pulls both of them further into a murder-is-ok echo chamber.
For the most part, Kramer's reactions to the deaths aren't shown much because that's not why he's doing this. However, this doesn't erase all the other bad he's done in previous films. John Kramer is still not a good guy because he's taking justice into his own hands.
Despite their divorce, Jill remained loyal yet disapproving of John's actions, keeping secrets and working alongside him in certain master plans. She was then associated with Mark Hoffman, until betraying him, getting herself killed in the end. She was portrayed by Betsy Russell.
Before succumbing to his cancer, Kramer anticipated Detective Hoffman killing Jill, and told Dr. Gordon to kill Hoffman if he ever hurt Jill. After Jill's brutal death (Saw: The Final Chapter), Dr. Gordon and two other unknown accomplices capture Detective Hoffman and leave him to starve to death in the same room Dr.
Saw VI. It is revealed that Jill's box contained six envelopes (five of which contained photos of the victims for William Easton's game), a package, and an updated version of the "Reverse Bear Trap" that Jigsaw used on Amanda in the first film. She subsequently became something of an accomplice herself.

He selects only those individuals that, in his view, waste their lives in some way (drug addiction, self-harm, taking life's blessings for granted, etc). In the course of the Saw series, it becomes clear that Jigsaw knows or has met some of his victims in his personal or professional life.
Several survivors from the previous films returned as members of the self-help group in Saw 3D. These include Lawrence Gordon from the first Saw film, Mallick Scott from Saw V, and Simone, Addy, Emily and Tara Abbott from Saw VI.
