A Skilled SpyNakia was born in the African nation of Wakanda to the River Tribe. She grew up to be fiercely independent, though she also developed a romantic relationship with Prince T'Challa, son of King T'Chaka and heir to the throne.
Before his betrayal to the throne, W'Kabi offered to help T'Challa "clean up the world." Expert Tactician: Feeling betrayed by T'Challa's failure to capture Ulysses Klaue, W'Kabi allied with Erik Killmonger and led the Border Tribe against the rest of Wakanda in order to carry out Killmonger's plan.
Nakia is a Marvel Comics character who first appears in the film, Black Panther. She serves Wakanda as a spy around the world, and is also an ally and girlfriend of T'Challa. She is played by Lupita Nyong'o. Nakia was created by Christopher Priest and Mark Texeira.
Young Toussaint was kept hidden in Haiti to protect him from the pressures of the Wakandan throne -- explaining why Nakia didn't attend T'Challa's funeral -- but mentions Queen Ramonda got to meet him before she died.

Did Nakia get pregnant?
In 2018, Nakia, pregnant with her son, was kept away when the battle with aliens occurred. She and her son then survived the Snap. After learning that T'Challa and Shuri had disappeared, she and her son, without telling anyone, moved to Haiti.
Nakia appears in films set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), portrayed by Lupita Nyong'o. This version hails from Wakanda's River Tribe, is a former Dora Milaje who became a War Dog, an international spy for Wakanda, and was previously in a relationship with T'Challa. She first appears in Black Panther (2018).
The MCU has had great couples in the past, and they've told love stories within superhero films before. But ultimately, while there was clear chemistry between Shuri and Namor, it was for the best that Marvel Studios decided to do without their potential love line.
Namor wants Wakanda to fetch the engineer who built the vibranium-detecting drill so he can kill them to maintain the secret of Talokan, and if they don't, well, he'll be back in Wakanda “under different circumstances.”
The bad blood between Black Panther and Namor the Sub-Mariner is still apparent, as the hero just confirmed he hates his fellow Avenger more than any other member.
As such, Shuri didn't fight for the Wakandan throne because she understood it wasn't right for her to do so at the time - and this marks a pivotal step on her journey to accept grief and find some inner peace, making it the right decision in the long run.
In the end, Shuri's interaction with Killmonger acts as more than just a highly-anticipated cameo. Finding Killmonger on the throne and hearing his violent point of view gives her the chance to confront her own emotions, no matter how dark they are.
Killmonger appeared to Shuri to show her the side of herself that she'd been fighting against, and prove that there are better ways to avenge her losses than repeating his mistakes.
As the Multiversal Masters of Evil face off against the Avengers and the Prehistoric Avengers, King Killmonger faces off against Thor and Agamotto. The battle lasted for days. During his fight with Iron Man, King Killmonger was killed by the Prehistoric Iron Fist.
The movie reveals early on that Nakia spent the last six years away from Wakanda primarily working at a Wakandan outreach center in Haiti. Black Panther 2's post-credits scene explained the real reason why this move was made, as she left Wakanda to raise her T'Challa's son, Prince Toussaint.
She is once captured by Killmonger and embroiled in a war with Doctor Doom. Shuri also hates Namor for the pain and destruction he brings to Wakanda. Later, in facing the Cabal's Proxima Midnight, she loses her life, but is later resurrected.
Shuri urges Namor to yield, to spare both their people. "Vengeance has consumed us," she says. "It will not consume our people." Thankfully, Namor yields.
In the middle of the Incursions conflict, Thanos and his Black Order have decided to attack planet Earth, so Namor takes advantage of the situation and lies to Thanos in order to trick him into invading Wakanda instead of Atlantis.
When Namor takes a romantic interest in Susan Storm, AKA Invisible Woman, he becomes more of an ally to the team, even becoming a member of the Fantastic Four on a few occasions.
Shuri does not show up to the ceremony that would make her Queen of Wakanda. Instead, M'Baku appears and says he wishes to challenge for the throne. Considering we don't see anyone else go up against him, we can assume M'Baku takes over as king. Instead of ruling Wakanda, Shuri goes to Haiti to live with Nakia.
Nakia comes up to her and says that there's something she hasn't been told. Something that nobody besides Ramonda knows – that she gave birth to a child conceived with T'Challa. While Shuri has assumed the title of Black Panther, the kid is the true heir to the throne.
Nakia confides to Shuri that yes, her son is indeed the son of T'Challa: a true heir to the Wakandan throne. She also reveals that she wasn't at T'Challa's funeral because he wasn't ready for his son to be revealed. Shuri asks if her mother had had a chance to see the child, to which Nakia says yes.
