Themyscira is a homogeneous nation of women governed by Aphrodite's Law, which declared that the Amazons would be immortal as long as no man sets foot on their island. Men are banned from Themyscira under penalty of death.
With Diana out of Themyscira with the Justice League, Donna and the Amazons who supported her attacked the men by surprise in their settlement at night, killing them all by the sword, in cold blood. When Diana returned to the island, she wept among the corpses of her murdered brothers.
If no men, then how did they reproduce? According to several authors of the time, the Amazon women met in secret places with a select tribe of men or soldiers for two months every spring. Then the Amazon women returned to their own cities. If female infants resulted from those unions, the Amazons kept them.
Other stories portray Amazons as living entirely without men, though they periodically copulate so to bear female children. This version of the myth explains that the women either exposed male children or that they crippled the boys and made them into servants. Only female children were worthy to be raised.
After birth, the Amazons would keep the girls to be raised as the next generation of Amazons while the males were considered failures, traditionally tossed into the sea before Hephaestus - who had survived that same fate - began trading weapons for Themyscira's male children.

However, to carry on their race, they would very often mate with men from nearby societies or with handsome prisoners of war. Not only did Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chiang give Diana of Themyscira siblings on Olympus, but they also gave the Amazons themselves several male counterparts. Dubbed the "Sons of Themyscira," these men balanced out the female majority of Wonder Woman's mythos.
