Beast's descent into darkness began with his desire to develop a cure for the Legacy Virus. Believing that he should be able to solve any solution with time and effort, Beast's pursuit of a cure became an unhealthy obsession.
In the name of national security for Krakoa, Beast has abandoned his morals and embraced an ideology of 'the most good for the most mutants', regardless of the actions that lead to that conclusion. The former Avenger has resorted to monstrous acts, and has even embraced murder as a viable tactic.
Despite all this, Beast still sees himself as a hero. Hank narrates Wolverine #31, which gives us some insight into his motivations. “What I did was only bad if you're caught up in a moral philosophy that is ultimately pointless,” Beast says. During his monologue, he tries to justify his experiments on Wolverine.
In Amazing Adventures #11 (March 1972), written by Gerry Conway, Beast underwent a radical change and mutated into his now familiar furry, blue (originally grey) appearance.
An original member of the X-Men, Hank McCoy, AKA Beast is one of the smartest characters in the Marvel Universe. Although the hero started out as a lighthearted and kind mutant, he has performed a series of morally questionable actions over the years, especially during the Krakoan Era.

His super strength and agility have served him pretty well over the years but he's just not strong enough to really do anything to the Hulk. His acrobatic fighting style would allow him to keep ahead of the Hulk for a time but it just wouldn't be enough.
Beast is Stronger than Wolverine's Adamantium, & Cyclops Proves It. In Factor X #3 by John Francis Moore, Steve Epting, and Terry Dodson, readers are thrown into the alternate reality of the Age of Apocalypse through the perspective of one of Apocalypse's henchmen, Cyclops.
With little hesitation, Beast rips out and crushes his own eye to kill the last remaining Doll. Beast's willingness to harm another mutant and mutilate himself highlights how far he is willing to go to protect Krakoa.
In order to disguise his appearance, Hank took the extract and underwent radical physical changes that enhanced his agility and strength, as well as causing him to grow fangs, pointed ears, and fur all over his body.
The difference between Beta Mutants and Alpha Mutants is that the Beta Mutants have flaws, albeit very small flaws. The Beta mutants are also believed to be about 10% of the mutant population. Some examples of Beta mutants are Beast, Angel, Wolverine, Mystique and Sabretooth.
Not only did Beast choose to clone Wolverine in order to create a new army, but narration in Wolverine #32 (by Benjamin Percy, Juan Jose Ryp, and Frank D'Armata) gives readers Beast's inner monologue revealing his thoughts on his actions.
A brilliant student, McCoy completed his doctoral studies and finally left the X-Men and Professor Xavier's school to take a position as a genetic researcher with the Brand Corporation, a division of Roxxon Oil. A pampered prince transformed into a hideous beast as punishment for his cold-hearted and selfish ways, the Beast must, in order to return to his former self, earn the love of a beautiful young woman named Belle who he imprisons in his castle.
He starts developing inner beauty, and she starts to fall for him. But then she learns that her father is in danger, and wishes to leave. This is a pivotal moment for the Beast: will he release her? He chooses to let her go.
So as a punishment, the Enchantress put a curse on him: for his selfishness and cruelty, he would become a Beast until he learned to love another and earned her love in return.
In both versions of Beauty and the Beast, the pesky curse that trapped the Beast in his animal form is eventually broken. When Belle sobs over his injured body, her tears deactivate the spell. With proof that he can love and be loved in return, the Beast is magically returned to the human race.
While McCoy famously didn't have his fur when he debuted in Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's X-Men #1 in 1963, an experimental formula radically transformed Beast, bestowing the mutant scientist with gray fur which later became blue before changing in even stranger ways.
In that run, Beast started off in his blue furry form, but after he is captured by Tower, an experimented cure was used on him. With his new human form, Beast donned a new costume that was similar to his old red and blue costume, only now it had a red X on it, which he wore for a little while.
The next two oldest mutants include Hank McCoy/Beast (Nicholas Hoult), the only other survivor of the original 'first class' of X-Men. He was born sometime in the 1940s and looked to be in his early-20s during First Class; this means Beast is somewhere in his early 50's during Dark Phoenix.

When Deathstroke shot Gar in Dark Crisis #1, most fans assumed it was the first true casualty of this major event. Though Beast Boy is clearly still alive and kicking, his head and eye injury, as marked by the new eye-patch, makes him a visual echo of his enemy and almost-killer, Deathstroke.
From mutant to would be horror star, Marvel couldn't seem to find a place for Beast until he joined the Avengers. Hank McCoy was a major member of the Avengers for much of the '70s and into the '80s forming a lasting friendship with Wonder Man that became one of the central relationships of the title.
He has been helping to beat Magneto since he was a teenager, battling him alongside his teammates in the X-Men. While Beast's powers weren't exactly crucial in the battle against Magneto, he did still help the X-Men win.
After the two heroes experience the same trivial yet costly hilarious problem, the Flash proves his healing ability is much faster than Wolverine's! For one very specific and very hilarious reason, DC Comics' the Flash proves to have a better healing factor than Marvel Comics' Wolverine.
