The real world lies right behind it. As things turned out, he failed - probably by touching the forcefield too early and being thrown back by its power (the electric shock wouldn't have reached him, but the physical shockwave certainly would). Katniss found him lying helpless on the ground.
What happened to Beetee at the end of Catching Fire?
Beetee was wounded by Enobaria, but was chased off by Finnick, while Katniss helped Beetee. However, he ran into a forcefield that would out him in a wheelchair later. Then, District 13 rescued him, Katniss, and Finnick.
During 3QQ, hg75, I'm not sure how it happened, but the lightning struck Beetee (Jeff Wright, male victor from 3), and paralyzed him while setting up the tree trap to kill the Careers. For all of Mockingjay (1&2) he's shown in a wheelchair.
Johanna asks what happened to Mags, and when Katniss tells her she says Mags was Finnick's mentor and half his family. She also explains that she saved Wiress and Beetee because Haymitch told her that if she and Katniss were going to be allies she had to save them for Katniss.
Beetee was wounded by Enobaria, however, and as Finnick chased after her, Katniss came to Beetee's aid and completed his mission to destroy the arena. Beetee, Finnick and Katniss were taken by Plutarch Heavensbee to safety in District 13, while Johanna, Peeta and Enobaria were all taken hostage by the Capitol.
It's never made clear if she kills anyone in the arena in Catching Fire, but she does stab Finnick in the thigh during a standoff at the Cornucopia. She also wounds Beetee as he prepares to destroy the arena.
The female Morphling, however, appears almost coincidentally, and Peeta even mentions that they don't know her real name. Given that she is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Peeta, it's safe to assume that the Morphling was committed to the rebel cause.

Yes, Katniss did develop an addiction to the morphling, on account of constantly being sedated with it, however, I wouldn't say that she was an addict. An addict is someone who goes to a substance (or whatever their 'poison' may be) under their own mind.
As he does so, Cato cuts his way through the brush and realizes what Peeta has done. Enraged at Peeta's betrayal, Cato engages the other tribute in a fight, a fight which Peeta swiftly loses, escaping only with a severe leg wound, tracker jacker strings, and burns retained from the fire.
The following year after Lucy Gray Baird's victory, another female tribute emerged as the Hunger Games winner. Mags Flanagan became the first victor from District 4, living off of nuts and her survival skills by creating fishhooks. She was also the first victor to move to Victor's Village before serving as a mentor.
Why is Katniss confused to see Johanna with Wiress and Beetee?
Katniss is once again confused by the actions of another tribute when Johanna tells her that she got them out of the jungle for Katniss. She definitely does not trust Johanna, and though she likes Beetee and Wiress, she is weary of teaming up with Johanna.
She expected their years of friendship would make it harder to kill. But she knows her one and only true ally is Peeta, so she decides she must kill Finnick now. Katniss climbs down from the tree, determined to kill him now before he has the chance to kill her.
How much time passed between Hunger Games and Catching Fire?
Synopsis. Six months after winning the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark have resumed their life in the coal mining town in District 12. As part of their victory, they now have a luxurious house in the so-called Victor's Village, where Katniss lives with her mother and sister.
Johanna remains in the Capitol for quite a while, and she and Peeta are tortured for information concerning District 13 and the mockingjay rebellion. While in the Capitol, Johanna's entire head is shaved, making her bald.
As they tried to escape a wave of oil, Peeta had a hijacking fit, which prompted him to push Mitchell. This triggered another pod and activated a barbed wire net, which killed him. After the crisis, Katniss and the team saw Mitchell's body, which was covered in oil and torn apart by the wire.
In the case of Johanna, they each hated each other because that was what the Capitol had taught them to do. They were from competing Districts, and the idea of the Games was to keep the lesser citizens of Panem distrustful of one another and unwilling to form alliances (or raise arms in war).
Chia Mags kisses Finnick on the mouth to briefly let him know that this is the last time she will see him. It's her way of saying "Goodbye" but in a more affectionate way.
While the Hunger Games film never talked about it, the Catching Fire novel explained why she could only communicate through hand gestures. Katniss briefly mentioned that a previous stroke could have caused Mags' garbled speech. However, post-traumatic stress disorder could have also caused her speech incapacity.
Finnick rushes to resuscitate him as he knows he needs Peeta alive to keep Katniss going. Another clue that he is in on the rebel plan comes when Katniss is about to kill him with her arrow, and he tells her, "remember who the real enemy is," which is something Haymitch said to her before the games.
Enobaria presumably volunteered for the 62nd Hunger Games between the ages of 12 and 18, which she won, becoming infamous for ripping a fellow tribute's throat out with her teeth. After winning her games, she had her teeth sharpened and pointed like fangs, in order to intimidate other people.
Peeta, Annie, and Beetee vote no, while Johanna and Enobaria vote yes. After some thought, Katniss demands to kill Snow. Once she receives an agreement, she votes yes, for Prim. Realizing something is up (as Katniss would never do that), Haymitch votes yes, too.
However, they agree to wait until Brutus and Enobaria, two Careers, are dead. He tells Katniss that Beetee has a plan to kill the Careers, and they return to the group to hear it. Beetee's plan involves his wire, the water, and the tree that is struck by lightning at midnight and at noon.
