Bill then sees Georgie emerge from the shadows. Georgie tells Bill he missed him and was waiting for him to come for him. Bill hugs his brother, but he knows it's not really Georgie, and he shoots him in the head. His body writhes on the ground until he turns into Pennywise.
Pennywise had targeted Georgie when the boy was too young to know any better or fight back. In the clown's most contemptible murders, Pennywise did not rely on visions or fears to lure Georgie in; instead, Pennywise exploited Georgie's trust and turned it into a fatal weakness.
While he comes close to presenting as the real Georgie, it was his fatal mistake of calling the boat “it” instead of “she” that caused Bill to acknowledge that it was Pennywise in disguise. Bill shoots the look-a-like, and the Losers have an all out brawl that defeats the creature for the time being.
In the theatrical film series, Georgie (instead of being left bleeding to death) is dragged down the sewers by the monster, after his arm is dismembered by the latter as he desperately tries to cling to his life calling Bill's name as no one hears.

Was Georgie's body found?
A neighbor witnesses his disappearance, but the fact his body is never found gives Bill hope Georgie somehow survived. Pennywise prays on this in the film, using that hope to lure Bill in the finale. Bill later finds the tatters of Georgie's coat and finally accepts his brother is gone.
there is no confirmation that Georgie is dead. He's attacked by Pennywise, and he's missing an arm, and he tries to get away from the sewer, like he's dragged into it again, leaving a trail of blood, but his body is never found.
However, he doesn't seem to target adults like he does kids, which is odd, seeing as how, as many will agree, adults have just as many fears, worries, phobias, anxieties, and insecurities as any child, maybe more since they've lived longer and thus had more time to develop more things to be afraid of.
However, they make an oath that, if Pennywise is not in fact dead, they will all return to Derry to defeat him. In his adult life, Bill has become a successful writer and married an actress, Audra Phillips. Bill has controlled his stutter and, due to the nature of It, cannot remember Derry, Georgie, or The Losers Club.
And if his victim believes him to be powerless, he will become powerless. And so the group figures out that their best bet is, essentially, to bully the bully: They mock Pennywise, telling him he isn't scary. Humiliated, Pennywise begins to shrink, transforming into an almost Benjamin Button–like, melted clown-baby.
Unfortunately, King's imagination ran a little wilder than alluded to in the movies or earlier in the books, and the consequence of that is a pregnant Pennywise.
The backstory of Pennywise is tied to an ancient cosmic entity referred to as the "It" or the "Eater of Worlds." This entity is from another dimension and has existed for an extremely long time. It comes to Earth approximately every 27 years to prey on the children of Derry.
George, often called “Georgie,” has a fear of the dark and last sees Bill when his older brother helps him make a paper boat that George takes out into the rain.
In the novel Georgie was left on the street to bleed to death while the full extent of his fate is fairly ambiguous in the miniseries, but here he's dragged screaming wholly into the sewer where we can assume Pennywise ate his physical body.
He can kill you if he wants to anytime and doesn't care. Although, if you are not scared, he will either leave you be for a little while or just kill you in the instant . Remember, the only way to avoid him is to keep a close group of people and avoid wet and damp places as much as possible.
How did Pennywise kill Georgie if he wasn't afraid?
In the opening scene, Pennywise lures Georgie into his sewer by acting friendly and making him laugh. It's not until Georgie reaches his arm into the sewer does Pennywise bite his arm off.
In the full version of the "you lied and I died" scene, Georgie (or at least the appearance of him) blames Bill for his death, arguing that Bill was only pretending to be sick on the day Georgie died, and in fact just didn't want to go out and play with him.
Bill overcame his stutter during his teenage years due to a private speech therapist, however his stutter returned unexpectedly after receiving a call from Mike Hanlon that summoned him back to Derry. Bill's stutter noticeably gets worse when he is upset, angry, or afraid.
In IT, Richie (played by Finn Wolfhard) admits to his friends that he's terrified of clowns, which is coincidentally the default form that Pennywise takes on. However, in both the book and the 1990 miniseries, his greatest fear is a werewolf, and cutting this from his battle with Pennywise was a mistake.
IT arrived on Earth through an event similar to an asteroid impact, landing in what would later become Derry, Maine. Once there, IT adopted its usual pattern of hibernation that lasted between 27 and 30 years, awakening to kill and eat and then going back to sleep.
They reach the conclusion that Pennywise has all of the adults under some sort of spell that prohibits them from seeing him. The adults of Derry are shown to be villainous in their own right as well. The adults of Derry are shown to be true villains of the story in the same way as Pennywise.
Stephen King's IT introduced readers to a one-of-a-kind creature that can take any form, the most common one being Pennywise the Dancing Clown, and as menacing as it is, this creature has one big enemy it's truly scared of: Maturin, the turtle.

The book trumps the movie in sheer terror. While Tim Curry as Pennywise the Clown was traumatizing to many 80's children, the CGI monster at the end failed to live up to King's hair raising description. Don't go to the circus after reading this book.
