Boromir blows the horn after he has been hit by many arrows. Boromir's signal has two tones, the second higher than the first (it's the same sound heard by other horns, Rohirrim or Hobbits'). It survived the battle without being broken.
The horn, when blown, can be heard throughout Gondor and serves as a call for help during times of need. The horn was tragically destroyed when Boromir used it to call for help, leading to his death, but its broken pieces became a symbol of Boromir's legacy and the courage of the people of Middle-earth.
Boromir blew it before leaving Rivendell with the Fellowship, as he always did when setting out on a journey. He sounded it again in Moria, causing the Orcs and even the Balrog to pause in their advance.
He believed the stories told in Gondor that Galadriel's magic would harm them. He eventually agreed to go after Aragorn assured him the Elves would help them. In Lothlórien, Boromir was disturbed by what he felt was Galadriel's testing of his mind, and he was suspicious of her motives.

Why did Galadriel not give Boromir a gift?
It may be related to their intention to play up the discord between Boromir and the rest of the Fellowship and the mistrust Galadriel felt toward him specifically. That angle was heavily emphasized throughout the film.
Her intentions would have been pure because she sought to instill peace. Ultimately, however, Galadriel would have been corrupted by the power of the One Ring, and her beauty would become an object of worship.
For more than five millennia, the Balrog hibernated in his deep hiding place at the roots of the mountains in Khazad-dûm. He remained undisturbed throughout the Second Age and most of the Third, before the mithril-miners of dwarf-King Durin VI awoke him in T.A. 1980.
As a Valar, Morgoth led a whole slew of Balrogs in the First Age, but because Sauron was only a Maia, the Balrog would have had no loyalty to him. He was his own master in Moria, and no Dark Lord was going to ruin that.

In The Lord of the Rings, the kingdom of Gondor has no king. But why did Denethor remain in charge instead of finding a new king for the throne? By the time Denethor was introduced in The Lord of the Rings, he had been ruling Gondor as a steward for 35 years.
Gondor had a formidable army, with a substantial force that could muster several thousand soldiers when needed. Rohan's army, although smaller in numbers compared to Gondor, was highly specialized and effective, particularly in mounted combat.
Both Roland, the paladin of Charlemagne, and Boromir bore a white horn. Like Roland in battle with the Saracens blew his horn to call for Charlemagne, Boromir called for Aragorn. In both cases, help came too late.
But others see him as a once noble ruler who is trying his best in a failing age, surrounded by the darkness and evil of Mordor, influenced by the Palantir, and grieving for the loss of his son Boromir, which is enough to drive anyone mad.
Secondly, Balrogs were the epitome of malice and power while Sauron only ever won one of three fights he ever had. Sauron was the great deceiver. His power lies in planning, subterfuge, manipulation, and corruption.
The Balrogs are essentially demonic equivalents to the wizards. It is hard to fathom the exceptional might of these creatures. With every subsequent age in Tolkein's Middle-earth, the magic in the world diminished, becoming less great in scale.
In Tolkien's The Return of the King, Sauron never fights Aragorn. In fact, Sauron's appearance is never properly described, perhaps because he's a notorious shapeshifter. As such, showing Aragorn fighting Sauron would be a disservice to the author.
The company fled with Gandalf, but the Orcs and the Balrog, taking a different route, caught up with them at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm. At the Bridge, Legolas instantly recognized it as a Balrog, and Gimli recognized it as Durin's Bane.
Gandalf's main reason for supporting Thorin's quest in The Hobbit was to eliminate the threat of the dragon Smaug, who would be a powerful ally for Sauron. Despite popular belief, the Balrog known as Durin's Bane was more powerful than Smaug in Middle-earth, being a literal, primordial demon.
Through her great-grandmother, Idril, Arwen was a descendant of King Turgon of the Noldor. Through her mother, she was the granddaughter of the Elf-queen Galadriel of Lothlórien. Through both of her parents, Arwen was a direct descendant of the ancient Elven House of Finwë.
Galadriel was keenly aware of the Ring's power and its danger, having seen the destruction it wrought on others. She understood that possessing the Ring would corrupt even the most powerful and well-intentioned beings, ultimately leading to their downfall.
