By destroying the wand, Harry was symbolically walking away from limitless power, which would have changed him into a creature of evil like Voldemort himself. He chose to remain Harry Potter, lord over noone, but friends with nearly everyone.
Since whoever owns the elder wand has immense power Harry decides it's best to destroy it. However, in the books, Harry doesn't break the wand; he puts it back in Dumbledore's tomb. History. This wand was snapped when Hagrid was expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in his third year. He was allowed to keep the pieces of the wand, which he concealed inside an umbrella as he wasn't allowed to do magic due to his expulsion. The wand may have been, in some form, mended.
Dumbledore never broke the Elder Wand because he knew it would have to be used to kill Voldemort. Remember how Harry's wand acted of it's own accord against Voldemort even when Voldemort was using Lucius' wand, a wand that was not the brother of Harry's?

What happened to the Elder Wand after Harry broke it?
After the repair, Harry told Dumbledore's portrait that he would place the Elder Wand back in Dumbledore's tomb, and when Harry died a natural death, the wand's power would be broken as Dumbledore had intended. The portrait of Professor Dumbledore approved.
At the film's end, Harry briefly explained that Snape had never been the wand's master since Draco had disarmed Dumbledore that night. Then, since Harry had stolen Draco's wand in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1, the Elder Wand's loyalty had transferred to Harry—even without having ever touched the thing.

Hermione, who used the wand to impersonate Bellatrix when they broke into Gringotts Bank, hated it. Because she hadn't won it, it didn't work properly for her, but it was more than that: Bellatrix's wand represented death, destruction and very Dark Magic.
Ultimately, it's a good thing that Dumbledore's plans didn't work out because if Draco hadn't disarmed the headmaster, Harry wouldn't have gained the Elder Wand's power when he later disarmed Draco. This was proof that, unlike Dumbledore, Harry was destined to reunite the Hallows and become Master of Death all along.
Honestly, Hermione knew Dobby was a lost case... nothing could have revived Dobby after the attack or she would have definitely helped Harry with Dobby considering she was the girl who started S.P.E.W(Society for the Elfish welfare) and fought for elf rights. There was nothing to be done at that point.

Snape even said that he didn't want anyone to find out that he was protecting Lily's child, “especially Potter's son” (pg. 679 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) because of his hatred for James. Instead of providing Harry a safe haven from his abusive home with the Dursleys, he tormented Harry over an old grudge.
He promised to protect Draco Malfoy from harm and guide him whilst he attempted to perform the task the Dark Lord had asked him to do: to kill Albus Dumbledore. Snape was actually a double agent working for Dumbledore, who requested Snape to kill him anyway to spare him of a painful and humiliating death.
