J. K. Rowling stated that the pain from Harry's scar on his forehead was caused by the piece of Voldemort's soul trying to leave his body through the wound it entered to rejoin its master's soul.
Why did Harry's scar hurt when Dumbledore touched him?
Because Harry had a piece of Voldemort's soul in him he could feel when Voldemort had strong emotions like anger or happiness. They manifest as pain in his scar, but that pain does not come directly from Voldemort, just the emotions underneath. It was an emotional connection between them, not a physical one.
But in adult Harry Potter, its silence also signals an end to Harry's trials and troubles in the wizarding world: 'The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years.
The scar is no longer dark, and instead has faded almost to his usual skintone. Scars do fade with time, but J.K Rowling wrote in the book that: "The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well." Many people believe the fact the scar has gone dormant after he left Hogwarts is why it faded.

Is Harry Potter's scar a Horcrux?
More importantly, it seems to be an artifact of Voldemort's accidental Horcrux-creation, and not directly related to Avada Kedavra. Rowling herself mentioned that her design choice was "because it's a cool shape. I couldn't have my hero sport a doughnut-shaped scar."
After Lord Voldemort destroyed the fragment of his soul residing in Harry, Harry seemingly lost the ability to speak Parseltongue, about which he was glad and relieved. Over the next twenty-two years, he never attempted to speak the language, presuming that it had died with Voldemort.
Since the pain from his scar was caused by the portion of Voldemort's soul within him trying to escape, Harry did not feel any more pain from the scar once Voldemort had eliminated that portion of soul. until the year 2020, when Voldemort's daughter, Delphini, was plotting his revival via the use of time travel.
Notably, Voldemort appeared to be entirely unaware of this split, as he later created a seventh Horcrux in his quest to have six, and continued to target Harry Potter despite him now holding part of Voldemort's own soul.

He probably got to know Harry was a Horcrux when he saw the Scar on Harry's forehead, but maybe he wasn't sure. Then, when Harry came to Hogwarts and Dumbledore got to know he can speak Parseltongue his thought of him being a Horcrux got stronger.

This action of hers was both very crucial and important, not only for Harry's survival but for Voldemort's final defeat as well, thus ensuring Harry was again protected by a mother's love, although indirectly.
As every fan knows, Harry survived the killing curse as a baby because his mother's love protected him. However, after Voldemort returned using Harry's blood to regain his full body, he was allowed to touch Harry without suffering negative consequences.
The initial trauma from his childhood led to the false identity he developed in his teenage years when he decided to rewrite his story and identity. He wanted to rid the world of those who had hurt him, and he'd almost succeeded before the prophecy of Harry's birth stopped and eventually destroyed him.
Ron, Mrs/Mr Weasley, McGonagall, Ginny, Dumbledore, and Harry were in the room when Harry explained how he had killed the Basilisk. Hermione probably knows since she figured out the Basilisk, so I guess she's gonna hear Harry killed it later. That gives us just a handful of people.
Of course, at that moment, Harry Potter didn't know there was a piece of Voldemort's soul in him, so he wouldn't have even tried to communicate with the Basilisk, but had he tried and succeeded at it, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets would have ended very differently.
