In an attempt to confront Jimmy for his shenanigans, Howard lures Jimmy to a gym for a boxing bout under the pseudonym “Mr. Ward”. Playing to Jimmy's disdain for him, Howard is able to get Jimmy to jump into the ring and take his aggression out in a physical nature.
He took boxing because he had heard it was good for your cardiovascular, and he probably heard some other successful lawyer say boxing is the thing to do. So then Howard bought all the stuff, got the best trainer in Albuquerque, then committed to it and quietly boxed.
Initially a foil for and longtime antagonist of Jimmy McGill, his hostility and actions towards Jimmy are later revealed to have been largely due to pressure from Chuck McGill, his business partner and Jimmy's elder brother. His attempts to correct his past behavior towards Jimmy culminate in devastating consequences.
Initially unaware of Chuck's duplicity, Jimmy blamed Howard for blocking his potential advancement in the firm. He would eventually leave HHM and began a fledgling solo practice, working primarily as a public defender and with elder law.
Howard expresses remorse for not standing up to Chuck and hiring Jimmy when he first got barred and later when Jimmy brought HHM the Sandpiper Crossing case. Although in the first season it seemed that he was initially supportive of Jimmy, Chuck harbored resentful feelings toward him because of his conman past and charisma, in addition to Jimmy's approach to his career. From the second season onward, Chuck transforms into Jimmy's nemesis.

While Chuck's condition is real in the sense that EHS is inspired by real life, it's certainly not real in the traditional sense. Like anti-vaccination and climate change being a hoax, EHS is the result of false information spreading and seizing advantage of those with existing psychological conditions.
Howard makes passive-aggressive small talk with Kim and her party and mentions her being in doc review. In response, she writes out a check to Howard for the amount of money covering her law school loans and presents it to him with a similar passive-aggressive interruption.
Jimmy has realized it was Chuck who told Howard not to hire him, and has been blocking him from being hired at HHM ever since his days in the mailroom, and demands to know why. Chuck reveals his opinion of Jimmy as not being worthy to be called a real lawyer and that he has not changed since his "Slippin' Jimmy" days.
Because she enjoys a good con, Kim also loves Saul Goodman. He brings purpose and entertainment to Kim's life right when she needs those things the most. Although she eventually realizes that Saul brings out the worst in her, Kim has "the time of [her] life" with him.
When Jimmy was suspended from practicing law and went broke, he attempted to force a settlement in the case to earn his $1.16 million cut of the payout. Finally, Jimmy and his wife Kim Wexler conspired to smear Howard Hamlin, HHM's lead attorney, in an ultimately successful attempt to force a settlement.
Howard Hamlin is one of the two secondary antagonists (alongside Hector Salamanca) of the 2015 crime drama Better Call Saul, the prequel to Breaking Bad.
Chuck responds that he was play-acting and had exaggerated his illness to make it sound believable. He continues to explain his illness, EHS, and describes it as an illness that only affects him physically, in the form of discomfort and pain (“Chicanery” 00:15:06-00:32:25).
Jimmy even refused to properly acknowledge his brother's death or consider that his actions might've pushed Chuck to suicide. The only way Jimmy could avoid the emotional fallout of Chuck's death was by having no feelings on the topic whatsoever, which explained his callous letter reaction.
It isn't until Jimmy visits Chuck's grave in season 4 that the year he was born is relayed to audiences, showing that he lived from 1944 to 2003. This makes Chuck significantly older than Jimmy, by 16 years to be exact, being roughly either 57 or 58 when he is introduced in Better Call Saul season 1.
But Saul-as-Howard is also a metaphor: it's just a guise. Saul might pose like a hot-shot lawyer, but he is still a scammer, in fact crossing a major Breaking Bad line by pulling one of his biggest scams yet.
Kim Wexler's involvement in several crimes and moral failings proves that she is far from innocent in the Breaking Bad universe. Despite her generally outstanding moral record, Kim's bad decisions, such as blackmailing and helping Jimmy in illicit schemes, reveal her flawed character.
Gould and the writing staff knew by the time the fifth season finale aired two years prior that this was the right ending for the series. They realized that Saul spent his career making a mockery of the justice system, so it was fitting to them that he ended the series as a part of it, only this time as a prisoner.
