The couple had to leave Harry's birthday party on 31 July when Minister for Magic, Rufus Scrimgeour arrived to discuss the contents of Dumbledore's will with Harry, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Around this time, Tonks became pregnant.
Remus and Tonks quickly left, since the two had recently married and the Ministry of Magic had anti-werewolf legislation in effect. Arthur and Scrimgeour arrived shortly afterward, and the latter requested a private word with Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
Let's get back to Remus Lupin. The reason he and Potter aren't close is because of the werewolf. “Thanks to his inactions (not visiting him or sending him letters, etc) and the fact that he didn't make an effort to be close to the kid when he could have, he succeeded in effectively alienating himself from Potter.
Harry apologizes to them all for their deaths, most especially to Lupin, for he would no longer have a chance to raise his son. Lupin tells Harry that he is sorry too, but also that his son will know what his father died for - a world in which his son would lead a happier life - and hopes that he will understand.

Who raises Tonks and Lupin's child?
This was a relief for Lupin. After the war, Teddy was raised by Tonks' mother, Andromeda, but had a close relationship with his godfather, Harry. He was sorted into Hufflepuff and became Head Boy at Hogwarts.
And Remus was in love with Sirius (also hopelessly, because Sirius only had eyes for James). Then James was killed, Sirius was imprisoned, Remus was outcasted, and Peter was ratatouilled.
This may have been because of several reasons: the anti-werewolf legislation, his suspicions that his in-laws disapproved of his marriage to Tonks, or because of Tonks' pregnancy. Remus was extremely upset by the pregnancy.
That means that they probably got married when they were around 19 or 20, only a couple of years out of Hogwarts. They aren't the only couple in the wizarding world to get married at such a young age. Fleur Delacour is at most 21 when she marries Bill Weasley, who is a bit older, at 26.
Making Sirius 4 months and 1 week older than Remus and Remus 17 days older than James. Peter's birthdate is unknown beyond being between September 1, 1959 and August 31, 1960, so it's impossible to say how old Peter is compared to the other Marauders.
As a single werewolf, it is understandable that Remus could not take care of Harry after his parents died. It's also possible he was not informed where Harry was placed and thus couldn't write to him in his early years at the Dursleys.
Remus wanted to join the trio in their mission to destroy Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes until Harry chastised him for being a coward. Remus fled in anger and shame. When Teddy was born, Remus found the trio and immediately made Harry Teddy's godfather, completely forgiving him for his harsh words.
Teddy Lupin has a legal guardian with his maternal grandmother. And it would be rude to take away the grandson of a woman who had lost her husband and then a few months later lost her daughter, son-in-law, and sister all in the same day. Harry is only the legal guardian if no one else in the family is available.
In the EXCELLENT James Potter book series, by G. Norman Lippert, Tonks had already given birth to a boy before being killed in the Battle of Hogwarts. (The James Potter in the Lippert series is Harry Potter's son).
Did Remus Lupin know Sirius Black was innocent throughout The Prisoner of Azkaban? No. He suspected Sirius until the end of the year, when he spotted Peter on the Marauder's Map. It was at that point that he put it all together and realized what had happened, and that Sirius was innocent.
Remus was extremely upset by the pregnancy. He believed that by marrying Tonks he had made her an outcast among society, because of his lycanthropy, as well as feared that he would pass on his affliction to their child.
She thought they were only together for the physical side if things. Ginny didn't like her because Fleur treated her like a little girl, not like a respected teenager like Ginny was used to.

As you can read, in Nymphadora, there is also the word Nymph, which in the Wizarding World, are small magical creatures who were also used as Christmas decorations (who even sang) in Beauxbatons. Nymphs were usually flirtatious, allowing Tonks to “hate” her name a bit.
In the end of the book, we learn that the real reason for Tonks' depression is because she has fallen in love with Lupin, who has been trying to convince her that they cannot be together because he is a werewolf.
They had kissed in the past, under mistletoe and at midnight to ring in the New Year. He hesitated for a moment but he could tell that Remus wasn't joking. With a little laugh, Sirius leaned in and kissed Remus soft and fleeting before moving back. “Ah,” was all Remus said before pulling Sirius back into another kiss.
Sirius feels for Marlene in a way he's never felt for any other girl. This is shown in his actions, which are pointed out by more observant classmates like Lily Evans. Sirius is more affectionate to Marlene than his past relationships whom he only saw as passtimes.
