Although initially opposing Ro's assignment aboard the Enterprise, Captain Picard was impressed with the way she handled the situation. Following the mission, he told her she was free to leave the ship, but as a personal request, he wanted her to consider remaining in Starfleet.
Ro's final "Next Generation" episode was "Preemptive Strike" (May 16, 1994) wherein she found herself sympathizing with a group of anti-Starfleet Maquis separatists that she was assigned to infiltrate. She ended up leaving Starfleet behind to join the Maquis and to fight the Federation's neglect.

The last time Picard saw her — at least on screen — was in season 7 when she was sent to infiltrate a resistance group known as the Maquis and ended up defecting. A lot has seemingly happened to Ro off screen since that time.
Ro gives Picard a head start to get away, but is betrayed by her security team, actually changelings in disguise, and sacrifices herself to cripple the Intrepid in order to allow the Titan-A to escape, but not before giving Picard her Bajoran earring, revealed by Riker to be a data-chip containing files on her entire ...
After many missions together, she began to view Picard as a mentor and father figure. She also developed bonds with fellow crew members like Geordi La Forge, and the ship's bartender, Guinan. Ro and Guinan grew even closer when a transporter mishap turned them both into kids.
In 2368, Ro was released by Admiral Kennelly and reinstated into Starfleet in exchange for helping locate a Bajoran terrorist. While secretly conducting her mission, Ro was assigned to assist the USS Enterprise-D on stardate 45076.3.
Sadly, Ro's death in Star Trek: Picard season 3 meant that there wasn't a chance to explore this clash between her Bajoran faith and her Emissary's attack on the Maquis.
But as Beltran explained on Twitter, he declined to return. “I was offered an episode (first 2 then1) in Picard, but I simply did not like what they had written for Chakotay so I turned them down,” wrote Beltran.
While we do not know for certain, but without Paramount directly telling us, the prevailing theory is that Krige was unable to travel to L.A. due to COVID restrictions when casting for season two began. Since Annie Wersching lives in L.A., the role was simply recast.
Worf resigned from Starfleet to fight for Gowron and served on his brother's ship. Gowron won the war after Starfleet exposed Romulan support for the House of Duras.
During the second season, the character was written out of the series, with the explanation that she "was off heading up Starfleet Medical for the year." Producer Rick Berman has said that McFadden left due to her disputes with the head TNG writer at the time, Maurice Hurley.
Since Ro Laren was a Bajoran character, it seemed logical that she would be part of a show about the Bajoran homeworld. Forbes, however, was tired of acting on television and wanted to make feature films instead.
Forbes was later approached to reprise the character of Ro on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but she declined because she did not want a regular television role at the time; Nana Visitor's role of Kira Nerys was scripted as a replacement.
By the time of the series finale, "Endgame", The Doctor had managed to remove the implant, allowing Seven to pursue a relationship with Chakotay. The alternative future seen at the start of the episode showed that Seven and Chakotay were eventually married, but she died while Voyager was still travelling home.
In that future, Seven was killed on a mission in 2381 and Chakotay died in 2394. The series finale left the couple's future open-ended; however, this storyline hasn't been mentioned in any follow-up iteration of Star Trek, including Picard and Prodigy.
The reasons that Matalas was unable to include Janeway came down to budgetary constraints and not wanting to step on Star Trek: Prodigy's toes, but despite not appearing, Janeway was almost an honorary character in Star Trek: Picard season 3.
But Ro Laren, mostly due to her childhood trauma, sympathized with the Maquis. Instead of infiltrating them to take them down, she wound up joining them. Picard saw this as a deep betrayal, and the two never saw each other again.
Despite his supposed death, Q appears to Picard's son Jack Crusher in a mid-credits scene of the Star Trek: Picard series finale "The Last Generation." Q explains it was his future self that died, and that the trial of humanity hadn't truly ended; the defense attorney has just changed from Picard to Jack.
'Star Trek: Picard' was canceled because the series creators only anticipated a three-season arc. While fans have many reasons to be upset over the cancelation of Star Trek: Picard, being upset on behalf of the creators shouldn't be one of those reasons.
After decades of Cardassian rule, the planet regained its independence under the Bajoran Republic and became affiliated with the United Federation of Planets in 2369, with the intention of joining. The fact that Bajor was the largest planet in the Bajoran system comes from DS9: "The Nagus".
In later years, when the Cardassians joined the Dominion to fight in the Dominion War against the Federation, the Dominion aided the Cardassian military in wiping out the Maquis, a prelude to their war against the Federation and its allies.
