In order to return the country to its natural order, President Snow needs Katniss to help him. President Snow wants Katniss to convince everyone what she did was an act of love for Peeta, not an act of rebellion against the Capital.
What does President Snow want Katniss to convince him of?
Snow instructs Katniss that she must convince all of Panem that she is in love with Peeta during the Victory Tour, and she must also convince Snow himself. Doing so is her only chance to save her family and friends.
Control: As the leader of Panem, President Snow wanted to maintain his power and control over the districts. Katniss became a symbol of rebellion and hope for many people, which threatened Snow's authority.
He suspects that Katniss and Peeta's relationship is fake, and knows that Katniss has someone else back home, so he forces the two of them to parade around the charade on a press tour around the districts. Convince him that their connection is real, he tells Katniss, or he'll threaten their loved ones.
Snow laughs after Katniss killed Coin because he enjoys the irony of the situation. He avoided the official execution ceremony, even though Panem's citizens still take their revenge on him, while Katniss ends up snatching away the victory and power that Coin thinks she has successfully secured.

How did Gale kill Prim?
Before the Capitol battle, Gale had explained to Katniss his series of bombs designed to feed off human compassion: a small bomb would go off, and then when medical aid rushed in, a second bomb would go off, killing those people as well. Incidentally, it's this exact type of bomb that took Prim's life.
Using knowledge from the movie and the books, let's break down how The Hunger Games ends. Coin killed Prim to destroy Katniss because, as Boggs (Mahershala Ali) explains before his death, Katniss is her biggest threat to maintaining her power over Panem because of the influence Katniss has over the people.
It was here that Snow first heard the mockingjays, taking up the tune after the jabberjays repeated Chance's last words, "Run, Lil, Run!" He took an instant dislike to the birds, an unnatural muttation of the Capitol-bred jabberjays.

She remembers that they did indeed promise not to lie to each other anymore, and she realizes that Snow wasn't lying to her about Coin's role in the parachute bombing. He has no reason to lie to Katniss. His death is certain, but the future of the Capitol is not.
After being bitten by a snake, and suffering hallucinations as a result, Snow believes he sees Lucy and shoots at her. However, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes' ending does not reveal whether Snow killed Lucy Gray or whether she escaped. This ending leaves the possibility that she and Katniss are related after all.
Katniss Everdeen: As an evil, ruthless, and calculating dictator, Snow doesn't have many close relationships in The Hunger Games trilogy. His most important relationship is with Katniss, and it's one that's marked by hatred on both their parts, though they swear to always tell each other the truth.
He married Julia Pompey but their marriage was loveless. It was suggested by many that he poisoned his wife because she tried to kill him and take their sons place.
Since the end of Katniss' first Hunger Games, President Snow has been wary of Katniss and the power she wields over the districts. Snow recognized early, from Katniss' first stunt with Peeta and the nightlock berries, that she could mean trouble for his power and control over the Capitol.
Summary and Analysis Part 1: Chapter 2. Katniss volunteers to take her sister's place as tribute, thinking about how the odds had been in Prim's favor, that her name was one in a thousand and never should have been drawn in the first place.
All Gale wants is to keep his family and those close to him safe. By the time he was 18 (the same year "The Hunger Games" takes place), he had put his name into the Reaping 42 times in order to gain extra food for his family and reduce the chance of his three younger siblings being chosen as a District 12 tribute.
However, each tesserae they sign up for puts another slip with their name in the reaping ball. It is also cumulative, so Katniss Everdeen, when she was sixteen, had her name put in the glass ball twenty times.
In the prequel book, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, it's revealed that Lucy Gray Baird wrote the song after witnessing the murder of a man named Arlo Chance, who is hanged at a tree where executions take place.
Coriolanus may be convinced that Lucy Gray betrayed him, but his paranoia makes him an unreliable narrator. Ultimately, her true intentions are never confirmed. She may have clued in on his untrustworthiness, but it's also entirely plausible that she had no plans on turning against him.
As Lucy leaves for a brief moment to gather katniss, Snow grows paranoid and believes that she will betray him. In the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Lucy story, he starts to hunt her across the lake and the novel amps up his neurosis after he's bitten by a snake under a scarf that Lucy seems to have left behind.
Even though it was a risky move (cause who knows if it work out) Coin knew Katniss well. And by killing Prim, and making it seem like the Capital's fault, she was hoping to get Katniss' support in becoming the next leader.
By killing Coin, Katniss ensured a chance for a peaceful and fair country, avenged her sister's death, and liberated Panem from the fascist government. The Hunger Games franchise is still an iconic series of books and movies, with the latter truly cementing the property as an international phenomenon.
By killing President Coin, Katniss risked her safety in order to not only avenge Prim's death but also gift the people in Panem a chance to live in a peaceful and fair country for everyone. Katniss was incarcerated for a time, and she was sent back to District 12 after she was deemed unsuitable for a trial.
