Reese Witherspoon as Susan Murphy / Ginormica, a woman from Modesto, California who is hit by a radioactive quantonium meteorite on her wedding day, causing her to change drastically and grow to a height of 50 feet 11.5 inches (15.532 m) and into a giantess.
A few minutes before her wedding to Derek Dietl (Paul Rudd), a TV weatherman, Susan Murphy (Reese Witherspoon) is hit by a meteorite. The meteorite is infused with quantonium, a rare and powerful element that causes her to grow -- just as she begins to recite her vows -- to an enormous size.
Quantonium Dependency- Susan depends on the presence of Quantonium in her body in order to have monstrous size and strength. If the Quantonium is removed, Susan returns to her normal size. Metal Bindings- Susan can't grow if there's a strong enough metal binding restraining her.

How did Susan become big?
Just before the ceremony, a meteorite from a destroyed planet strikes her and its radiation is absorbed into her body.
