Early life. As a child, Gamora's planet was invaded by Thanos, whose forces killed half the population, including her parents. Gamora confronted him, and out of admiration for her courage, he adopted her as his daughter.

Thanos never cared much for Nebula, even going so far as to say in Guardians of the Galaxy that Gamora was his favorite. That could be because, to Thanos, Nebula was nothing more than a means to spare Gamora while still obtaining the Soul Stone.
The Kidnapping of Nebula was a successful effort by Thanos to replace the Nebula from the alternate timeline with her still Thanos-loyal self in order to infiltrate the Avengers and bring Thanos and his forces to 2023.
While he may not have had affection for Nebula in her adult years, her growth and ability to fight with 100 percent of herself every time were enough for him to pay attention to her and try and "help" her to ensure she never lost again.
And OOOPS SURPRISE Thanos has to sacrifice "what he loves most" in order to get the stone. His tears imply that he loves Gamora, but in one of my favorite movie moments of all time, Gamora spits back at him, "This isn't love."
When Gamora finally does confront Thanos, she believes for a moment that she's killed him and breaks down, crying. An orange light passes over her--but it's fleeting. Whatever love Gamora has for Thanos is all but smothered by darkness.
Over the years, Gamora became Thanos' favorite child, and he considered her the future heir to his throne, which only strengthened the growing wedge in her relationship with Nebula and in time, Gamora built up the reputation as the "deadliest woman in the galaxy" and became well known throughout the cosmos.

Thanos eventually realizes that all the trouble he went for in the snap: Killing Gamora, Killing Asgard's population, and ruining lives, have been for nothing. Thanos commits to finding a solution to reverse the snap. He starts to repair the gauntlet and confronts the Avengers.
This was part of a cosmic process by which the wielder of the Soul Stone had to sacrifice something they truly loved. Thanos killed Gamora regretfully, showing he would truly do anything to accomplish his goals, no matter how much it hurt him personally.
According to the theory, Thanos adopted Nebula with the intention of sending the two daughters to seek the Soul Stone and force Gamora to sacrifice Nebula. This would still allow him to get the Stone without having to pay such a steep price and would explain why he stoked such a resentment in Nebula.
Despite the controversial opinions, fans could agree that Thanos had a symbiotic relationship with almost everyone around him, and Gamora was no exception.
Because she does not have a history with the Guardians, she does not reunite with them at the end of Endgame. Instead, she starts her own journey while Peter Quill is left mourning his dead girlfriend despite the existence of another version of Gamora in his universe.
Informed by the Red Skull that he had to give up the thing he loved the most to receive the Soul Stone, Thanos dragged his beloved step-daughter Gamora to the edge of a cliff and threw her to her death. The experience gave him the power he sought, but caused even someone like him to regret his actions.
As a youth, Nebula grew up in a torturous environment created by Thanos. Having the Mad Titan as a parental figure would have been bad enough, but she was also constantly compared to her surrogate sister Gamora. Thanos openly favored Gamora, which drove Nebula mad with jealous rage.
Nebula's feelings on the death of Thanos are understandable, especially with the way Gillan broke it down in her quote. Despite his abusive nature, the Mad Titan was the only parent figure that the character has had for a long time.
Gamora survived Iron Man's snap in Avengers: Endgame because she had changed allegiances and was no longer a threat, according to the interpretation of the Soul Stone. The Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
Death is predominantly depicted as a skeleton cloaked in a black or purple robe, and at times appears as a Caucasian human female. While audiences never got to see Quicksilver at full power, super-speed is one of the best abilities a hero can have when facing an enemy like Thanos. With enough training, Quicksilver would have been more than capable of defeating Thanos when he finally arrived in Infinity War.
