The Black Fairy is the main antagonist of the entire series as she abandoned Rumplestiltskin to be raised by Peter Pan, embittered and hateful of their son for causing her disappearance, when he was a baby, which indirectly led to Rumplestiltskin being abandoned by Peter Pan as well and becoming the Dark One.
What happened to the Black Fairy in Once Upon a Time?
She assures Gold that her death will not stop her command, though Mr. Gold decides to kill her anyway as a test. Using her own wand, he transforms her body to dust.
His hatred of the fairies came from Blue giving Baelfire the magic bean that took him to the Land Without Magic. However, in the end Rumple chose his powers over his child, so he had no one to blame but himself, but Rumple never takes responsibility for anything so he decided to blame Blue instead.

When Gold returns to his shop, the Evil Queen is waiting and tells him that she is responsible for placing the spell in Belle's tea that resulted in her pregnancy to accelerate.
Fiona tells Gold that she had deciphered Henry's writing, having also given Gideon one final command – to kill Emma, and that even if she dies, Gideon will still be forced to carry it out. Gold decides to test this and kills Fiona with her own wand, breaking the curse.
Rumple and Belle get married, but Rumple's dark side keeps getting the better of him and Belle banishes him from Storybrooke. Despite this, after Rumple gets back into Storybrooke and has the Darkness removed from him, they eventually reconcile and conceive their son.
But if you're talking about why he asked for Emma and Regina's names from Snow and Cora before they were born, it was because he needed them to plot for the casting and breaking of his curse to find Bae in the LWM/Storybrooke.
In moments before the finale, Emma is able to finally let her walls down and tells Hook she loves him. As Hook slowly dies from his poisoned heart, Rumple decides to take out his own heart and give it to his former enemy.

But than season 2 introduces us to Cora's backstory which includes her being in love with Rumple. But it's also implied that Rumple ALSO was in love with Cora: Wanting a child from her, the heartbroken look when Cora tells him she leaves him and him wanting desperatly to know if she really loves him before her death.
