At the pre-race party, Mater is mistaken for an American spy by British Agent Holley Shiftwell after Rod Redline, the real American agent, is caught and plants his intel device on Mater.
During the race, Finn and Holley watch Mater from inside a building, and are surprised when they see him in Lightning McQueen's pit. Though unusual by spy standards, Finn believes this to be Mater's cover, and waits patiently for Mater to make contact.
After the events of the second film, Mater and his friends join C.H.R.O.M.E. to be trained for spy missions, being assisted by Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell.

Anticipation for Cars 4 is high, but Disney has not addressed any details for the movie. But we don't know the circumstances that caused it. Maybe he died of old age, or maybe he became sick like his voice actor, Paul Newman. We can't be sure what happened, but according to Jay Ward, the creative director of the cars universe, there was a draft of cars 3. that would have shown DOC death.
How on earth is this a DISNEY MOVIE? Generic and Hard to Follow Plot While Pixar has great simple plots that are unique in their own special way, Cars 2 has a boring and generic Spy plot that has a preachy message about being yourself. It is also confusing and boring most of the time.
Expected much more from my favourite animation studio. A disappointing conclusion to an enjoyable series, Cars 3 is nothing more than a movie made for merchandising, the kids may love it, but there is very little here for adults. Lightning McQueen struggles to keep up with a new generation of racers and technology.

Pretty much yeah. Pixar doesn't like acknowledging the majority of Cars 2 besides the World Grand Prix and I guess the dent being connected to Mater meant it was connected to the spy part of the movie (despite him getting it in Radiator Springs) and might've just took it out to ignore the film even more.
Sir Miles Axlerod, also simply known as Sir Axlerod, is the main antagonist of Cars 2, the second installment of the Cars franchise. He is the manipulative leader of the Lemons who wanted to turn the entire world against alternative fuels and make money out of it along with Professor Zündapp.
He is even willing to commit murder in order to achieve his goals in becoming rich through his untapped oil reserves where he ordered the death of Lightning McQueen when the latter decided to use Allinol in the last race after the lemons had managed to successfully discredit Allinol.
