In the film Get Out (2017), written and directed by Jordan Peele, a White woman (Allison Williams) lures her Black boyfriend (Daniel Kaluuya) to her family's estate to be auctioned off for a brain transplant procedure that enables older White people to obtain pseudo-immortality in a Black person's body.
Chris uncovers the sinister scheme laid out by their family, where they transplant their brains into the bodies of abducted Black people in order to achieve a heinous form of immortality.
It is explained in the film that not all of the victim's brain can be removed since autonomic body functions would be in danger. So there is still a part of the victim's brains intact - the new brain is grafted on. That suggests that the consciousness of the victim resides in the part of the brain that is left intact.
Like all of Peele's films, Get Out is deeply metaphorical. The Sunken Place serves as a metaphor for the underlying bigotry that exists to this day. Many white liberals view befriending Black men as a commodity (like the ones literally sold by the Order of the Coagula), but without giving them any agency.
Rose initially panics, but starts smiling evilly, presumably because that her racist beliefs about black people would be right, as Chris would end up acting like a beast.
In the beginning the rabbits were locked up in cages, symbolizing the loss of free will and movement. When Adelaide was switched, Red had more control of her body as she was from the surface. Since she had control she was able to free the rabbits from their cages.

When the flash goes off in Logan's face his demeanor changes. Physical symptoms manifest which include a nose bleed, fear in his eyes and lunging at Chris saying "Get out". Initially, this perception of this is interpreted as aggression, but later he learns that Logan was actually warning him.
However, the deer serves as an important motif in Get Out in other instrumental ways. Deer are also known as “bucks,” a term used to sometimes represent Black men. The deer killed by Rose at the beginning of the film foreshadows the fact that Chris in danger set to meet his end.
There's another alternate ending (although it is unknown if this one actually got filmed or not) that is arguably just as depressing, which finds Rod breaking into the Armitage household to save Chris. However, he is already too late, with Chris already stuck in the Sunken Place.
The scariest scenes in Get Out are the ones that recall shocking realities. Jordan Peele uses cross-cutting masterfully during the auction scene, as he cuts between Chris and Rose saying, “I love you,” for the first time, and the Armitages auctioning off Chris' body.
However, there isn't a specific event that inspired Peele to write Get Out, and instead, it was based on ongoing social issues, mostly racism and discrimination.
These can be supplied by connecting the blood vessels that supply the brain with an artificial blood substitute or by immersing the blood in an artificial cerebro-spinal fluid and oxygenating that directly. Guinea pig, dog and monkey brains have all been kept alive for hours or even days after being removed.
But when the flash goes off it triggers a bizarre transformation: Logan's expression turns to fear, his nose begins to bleed, and he launches at Chris, screaming, “Get out!” It seems like an act of aggression, but Chris senses it's something else—it isn't until later that he understands Logan was trying to save him.
Some organs, like the brain, cannot be transplanted. Tissues include bones, tendons (both referred to as musculoskeletal grafts), cornea, skin, heart valves, nerves and veins.
But nosebleeds can also be caused by a torn internal carotid artery and in that case the bleeding can be fast enough to be life threatening. It's also possible for a milder nosebleed to block your airway and asphyxiate you. A 47-year-old man from Gravesend, Kent died this way in 2011.
Fortunately, most aren't serious. The most common cause of nosebleeds is dry air. Hot, low-humidity climates or heated indoor air cause dry air. Both environments cause your nasal membrane (the delicate tissue inside your nose) to dry out and become crusty or cracked.
More rarely, a nosebleed can begin high and deep within the nose and flow down the back of the mouth and throat even if the patient is sitting or standing.
However, the casual stirring of the silver spoon in a tea cup not only develops into a centrifugal force of terror but bears important symbolic meaning. For one, the teacup is symbolic in that during the U.S. slavery era, white wives of slave owners would use a gentle strike to their teacup to summon house slaves.
In Get Out, the coagula procedure renders the African American victim powerless. They are forced into a metaphorical version of slavery where white people steal their bodies and use them for their own purposes.
But the flash of the camera wakes us up like the hypnotized Logan, whose real name is Andre, and later Walter, who's long been taken over by Rose's grandfather. Peele intends his movie to be like this flash - not an hypnotic entertainment that lulls us into submission, but a jolt that wakes us up to reality.
First, the separation of the milk and Froot Loops belies Rose's beliefs in the segregation of people by skin tone. She is figuratively separating white people from people of color by literally refusing to mix the white milk and the colored Froot Loops.
Another, clearer explanation is that Jason knows about Adelaide's true nature, as he heard the final fight between her and Red. He knows that she's still his mom, but also knows that she may have done something terrible in her past.
We see this idea pop up throughout the film as the tethered begin holding hands in Santa Cruz and eventually (what seems like) the entire country. For those of you who didn't grow up in the 1980s, Hands Across America was a charity event where people would hold hands… across America.
