During the feast, Thresh kills Clove, the female tribute from District 2, by smashing her skull in with a rock. He does this after overhearing Clove taunt Katniss about Rue's death. However, in the film, Thresh kills Clove by slamming her against the Cornucopia until her neck breaks.
Toward the end of the games, the Gamemakers organize a "feast" at the cornucopia to draw out the few remaining tributes. There, Katniss encounters Clove, who launches a knife at her before Thresh arrives and slaughters her as revenge for Marvel's (Jack Quaid) killing of Rue (Amandla Stenberg).
Why does Thresh save Katniss from the girl named Clove?
Clove pins her to the ground, but before she can carve Katniss' face, Thresh, the boy from District 11, kills Clove and frees Katniss. Thresh lets Katniss go — just this once — because of what she did for Rue, who was the other tribute from his district.
Katniss' friendship with Rue keeps Thresh from killing her. He feels as if he owes Katniss for her kindness toward Rue and, indirectly, his district, and Katniss of all people understands not wanting to owe anyone.
Whereas at the feast when clove was dying, Cato ran and held her in his arms and begged her to stay with him. But this could have been merely because Cato was trying to survive himself with the tracker jackers and didn't have time to help glimmer.
Though both were cruel toward the other tributes, they had formed an emotional connection with each other. However, in the film, Cato and Clove seemed to have no relationship with each other beyond that of allies. Cato did not come to Clove's aid during the feast, although she screamed his name twice.
She loved Cato, and he loved her, but they couldn't tell anyone. No one would sponsor a Career Tribute who loved anyone, especially someone in the arena with them. They had tried to keep it secret, but, since they see the Comittee of Victors every day in training, it's hard to keep anything secret from them.
What does he mean by this? It means that during the arena, during his killing spree, he realizes that there's more to life than killing, and he's just a pawn in the whole scheme of things. He realizes that he's a cruel person the capitol created, and he wouldn't mind dying because he wasn't alive on the inside anyways.
It is unknown why only Clove went in for the backpack, but by the time she is fatally wounded by Thresh, Cato is too far away to save her. As Katniss flees the feast, she sees Cato kneel beside Clove and beg her to stay with him.
Katniss and Prim's mother is from a wealthier merchant class within District 12, but she moved to the Seam to marry their father for love. When her husband dies in a mining accident, however, she falls into a daze, unable to work and take care of her children.
Katniss is sad that he's dead and struggles to hide her pain. She sleeps with her hood over her face to hide it from the cameras so that she can say goodbye to Thresh and thank him. She promises to remember him and help his and Rue's family if she wins.
As he does so, Cato cuts his way through the brush and realizes what Peeta has done. Enraged at Peeta's betrayal, Cato engages the other tribute in a fight, a fight which Peeta swiftly loses, escaping only with a severe leg wound, tracker jacker strings, and burns retained from the fire.
In the book she is about 150-200 pounds, as she is described as being at least 50-100 pounds heavier than 100-pound Katniss. It is heavily implied that Clove is at least 15 and overall larger than Katniss. In the movie, Clove is smaller and younger than Katniss, being only 14-15 and weighing just at 100 pounds.
The films, trying to be as faithful to the source material as possible, naturally had to include Finnick's death as well. In this sense, Finnick is the perfect candidate for upping the stakes of the plot via his death, as his hope for a future with his partner Annie made his demise seem even more untimely.
Formerly a warden from an already forgotten order, Thresh is a nightmarish creature that delights in the pain and suffering of sentient beings, dead or undead. His sadistic tendencies has gained repulsion even from other beings like him, and is arguably one of the most evil characters of the entire lore.
Who has the most brutal death in the Hunger Games?
Glimmer. Alongside Marvel, Glimmer was a career tribute from District 1 with a tendency for brutality and arrogance. When Katniss is stuck in a tree waiting for the career tributes to give up, she receives the most brutal death in the Hunger Games franchise.
I think the cruelest part was forcing the kids to kill each other. Not to mention making their families watch, making them anticipate and celebrate it, the whole forced "in love" thingy..and more. Just the cruelty of it all.
During the supposed execution of Snow, she instead shoots Coin, due to her being responsible for Prim's death. She then attempts to kill herself with the suicide pill attached to her uniform, but Peeta stops her.
In the film, Glimmer acts flirtatiously toward Cato. They talk and joke around the fire, she sleeps beside him that night, and even snuggles into his arm. However, the relationship is largely one-sided, and Cato leaves her to die to the tracker jackers.
Peeta urges Katniss to run and stays to fight fellow tribute Cato while she escapes. He survives the encounter with Cato but suffers a stab wound on his leg. He camouflages himself into the rocks and mud alongside a riverbank, slowly dying of blood poisoning until Katniss finds him days later.
She also stealthily takes a knife from Cato, causing him to believe that the District 6 Male took it, even though he didn't. This caused the two to get in an argument, and they almost got into a physical fight too.
