Delphini was born in secret at Malfoy Manor in early March 1998 as the result of a liaison between Bellatrix Lestrange and Lord Voldemort. On 2 May 1998, both of her biological parents were killed in the Battle of Hogwarts.
This is a great explanation and is exactly how I saw Voldemort when I first read the books (long before Cursed Child). He allegedly conceived her with Bellatrix in the months leading up the months final battle. Basically Delphi was born shortly before the trio got caught by the snatchers and brought to Malfoy Manor.
