"Well, it was always Scream 5 because it's the fifth one," Williamson explained. "So I think we just threw that name out, but I don't think they ever seriously were going to call it a Scream 5. I don't think anybody wanted to see the number five after something.
Scream is a 2022 American slasher film directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. It is the fifth installment in the Scream film series and a direct sequel to Scream 4 (2011).
Scream 5 started the new trilogy with the concept of a “requel,” a reboot sequel which means the movies will revisit the same subject matter, but the movie isn't a remake. One of the main characters, Mindy, expressed in Scream 6 that no one was safe this time, even the main characters, and everyone was also a suspect.
Though the seventh film is still in the works, the franchise has hit a bump in the road as it has been reported that several cast members will no longer return for the sequel.

“Scream 6” rides the momentum of the previous film and ups the ante in every way. It's funnier, scarier and much much bloodier. If you aren't a fan of gore, walk into this film with some caution. The kills are more frequent and take up more screen time than ever before.

The kills were brutal, the stakes felt higher, and the new, beaten-up Ghostface mask seemed scarier. However, much like Scream 5, Scream 6 had so much potential that was ruined by a lame Ghostface reveal.
While the Scream 2022 kills were performed by two Ghostface killers, Scream 6 was the first in the franchise to have three Ghostface killers. Playing off of the Scream 2 reveal that one Ghostface was Billy Loomis' mother, Scream 6 sees Richie's father Wayne, brother Ethan, and sister Quinn as the killers.

Severe. Lots of graphic sequences of violence that include characters getting stabbed for about 21 times in a row in the torso during a single sequence, knives are seen going through mouth and hands in a very gory way, and throats are slit. A girl has her stomach slashed with a knife leaving a bloody gash.

My husband and I usually like horror movies, but I would advise any parents to keep kids under 18 from watching this .
“There was a saying on set because directors Matt [Bettinelli-Olpin] and Tyler [Gillett] were always asking for more blood and more sweat,” Barrera said. “They always just wanted more. 'More blood spritz' was the saying because they would just always want more.”
Not only was it awesome seeing a film a week in advance but, like the other films of this consistent franchise, Scream 6 was a ton of fun! There was no shortage of blood or gore, but overall a strong movie that delivered on scares that keep you on the edge of your seat and even a few chuckles.
