He's viewed as a traitor because he made his own decision, a wrong one, but thought for himself and decided what was best for himself. And at this point, he is just 18 years old and making the wrong decision comes with growing up.

Percy Weasley is one of Ron's oldest brothers and an important character in the Harry Potter franchise. Percy was a Prefect when Harry first arrived at Hogwarts and then he went on to become Head Boy.
