Circe felt that the time of Hecate's prophecy was close at hand -- Hecate was a moon goddess, as was the goddess Diana. She thus believed that Wonder Woman (Diana) was the second witch of the prophecy, and that if Diana killed her then Hecate's power would manifest in her.

She has no convenient weakness. She used to be rendered powerless if she was bound or shackled by a man, but that's been phased out. She would also go mad when her bracelets were removed. Not treated consistently either.

Swamp Thing easily defeated Wonder Woman without even needing to attack her, leaving her helpless.
' Perses: Pasiphaë and Perses often bullied Circe when they lived in their father's halls, remarking on how she was ugly and had an unpleasant voice. He laughs at her for not knowing that the prized cows Circe once visited were all sired by Helios, who transforms into a bull to maintain them.
It turns out, Circe does leave this world behind. By committing suicide. After all that, all her rage and learning and growth and fighting, she ultimately decides to just give up and kill herself.
