And when her parents weren't teaching her these skills, Dory also remembered how they would oftentimes worry about whether or not she would be truly ok on her own. Because of these flashbacks, Dory's decides to go on a quest to find her parents once and for all.
Her behavior was not just meaningful to herself (finding her parents), but to the world at large (strengthening others). By having purpose, she was able to both persist in her goal and be resilient in the face of setbacks. At the end of the movie, you see Dory bravely sitting at the edge.
The overarching message in “Finding Dory” seems to be that difference should be celebrated and accommodated, in the same way that exceptional talent is. At the film's onset, Dory announces her memory loss to everyone she meets, often with a tone of profuse apology.
As Dory's memories about her past and the separation from her parents return to her, she uses her memories and her instincts to find her mother and father. She must then try to reunite with Marlin and Nemo.

The companionship that emerges is completely genuine. Nonetheless, Dory and Marlin's relationship is a complicated and interesting one. Some view Dory as Marlin's companion and speculate that the two are actually lovers.
In a flashback Dory hears her mother crying in fears of being relocated to another aquarium, so she left to retrieve a shell to cheer her up, to which she was pulled away by an undertow current out into the ocean.

Nemo regains consciousness & Marlin gently tells him that he found out that sea turtles live to be 150 years old. Marlin and Nemo come to an understanding and all three go back to their home in the reef.
Some animated sequel ideas just don't work out in Hollywood, and it's bittersweet when fans learn exactly what they are missing out on. Such is the case with Finding Nemo 2, a movie that never got to be.
Philip is the dentist who takes Nemo, adding him to the collection in his fish tank at his office. He is Darla's uncle, as well as a scuba diver. He is also supposedly going to offer Nemo to her as her new pet fish.
It's quite obvious that Dory has anterograde amnesia, which is the inability to form new memories. I also see many of the signs of ADHD within the character. I headcanon her as having an exaggerated version of ADHD because she gets distracted extremely easily and can't keep her attention on one thing.
Of course, Finding Dory isn't a true story. But the characters are based on real sea creatures, the Great Barrier Reef and Morro Bay are real locations and awesome marine aquariums that rescue, rehabilitate and release do exist all over the world. (We have two in Sydney, and love visiting them regularly!
Neither Hank nor Marlin actually are 'lovers' of Dory. They are just good friends. Considering the amount of time Dory spent with each of them, and the things they did together, I think Dory would've held Hank in admiration for helping her get back to her parents.
