In the film 'Finding Nemo', the character 'Gill' is a Moorish Idol. He has some pretty bad scarring, which he got from landing on dentist tools when he tried to escape one time. Fish do scar if they are damaged like that, though dentist tools are not usually found near fish tanks!
Clever and intelligent, Gill has made many escape attempts, but they have all failed miserably. The first time, he landed on the dental tools, giving him severe scars on his right side and destroying his right fin (similar to how Nemo has a little, deformed right fin).
He comes across as a villain, even though he's really not. He puts Nemo's life in danger even as he's trying to ultimately save him. He's the escape planner for a group of fish who, at times, seem pretty content to stay in captivity.
After Dr. Sherman puts Gill back into the tank, the Tank Gang congratulates him on finally succeeding in helping Nemo return to the ocean. At the end of the film, Gill and the other Tank Gang members manage to escape from Dr. Sherman's office.
Another really popular character from the movie, Gill is a Moorish idol which is often mistakenly identified as a butterflyfish, angelfish, bannerfish, or pennant fish, which appear in similar colors.

How old is Nemo?
Nemo is a curious and impressionable six-year-old, only child who lives with his overprotective, single-parent father, Marlin. Having led a sheltered life, Nemo brims with the excitement of starting school and finally seeing the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.
