Five years after King Stefan's death, Phillip proposes to Aurora, but Maleficent refuses to give her blessing to them due to the latter's distrust of humans (as she feared that Phillip might betray Aurora in the same way that she was betrayed by Stefan).
In May 2018, it was announced that Harris Dickinson would replace Brenton Thwaites in the role of Prince Phillip, due to scheduling conflicts with the latter actor. Later it was also confirmed that Jenn Murray, David Gyasi, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Robert Lindsay had also joined the cast.
Later, Stefan betrays Maleficent and steals her wings so he could claim that he killed her and become king. After the painful loss of her wings, Maleficent becomes enraged over his treachery, and as her heart of gold turns to stone, she becomes the evilest magical being in the land.
She hated infant Aurora, and she called her "Beastie," and tried to scare her, but Aurora just smiled at her in response. Since watching Aurora over her childhood years, Maleficent soon grew a maternal love for her.
Why doesn t Prince Philip talk in Sleeping Beauty?
Like Aurora, he doesn't speak again for the rest of the film. That evening, Phillip goes to the cottage as promised by the girl he has met earlier, but he unknowingly walks into a trap set by Maleficent as her Goons pin him down, tie him up, and gag him with a white handkerchief upon entry.
In the Grimms' “Briar Rose,” the original sleeping beauty, there is a suggestion of impulsive behavior on the Prince's part: “There she lay, looking so beautiful that he could not take his eyes off her. He bent down and gave her a kiss” (Ref. 2, p 105).
Stefan takes his time killing Maleficent by brutally torturing her. Then, after pulling out his sword, he prepares to finish her off but just before he can impale her, Maleficent's wings return to her after Aurora frees them.
She was called "Beastie" by Maleficent. At first, Maleficent hated Aurora, but Maleficent soon had developed a close bond with her, so she now calls Aurora "Beastie" as a nickname and a sign of affection towards her.
She tearfully apologizes to her sleeping goddaughter and gives her a farewell kiss on the forehead. However, just before she can walk away, a miracle happens: Aurora wakes up. Maleficent's strong and genuine motherly love for Aurora was enough to break the curse that she herself had cast.
But once she is betrayed, “her heart begins to turn to stone and she becomes a more malevolent Maleficent, she hides her hair and horns under wraps,” designed and made by members of Team Maleficent from leather and other materials meant to look like snake and animal skins.
Unfortunately, Ingrith herself confronts her and reveals the reason why she hates magical creatures: she believes her brother was killed by a magical creature, which caused her father, who wanted peace between magical people and humans, to be overthrown by his own people, something that led Ingrith to be exiled.
Maleficent, called in Perrault's story simply "an old fairy," did not receive an invitation to the christening because she had not left her tower for more than 50 years and everyone thought she was dead or ensorcelled.
The irony is that Aurora was taken from her mother to protect her from Maleficent, but, to Aurora, Leila is simply the woman who gave birth to her while she refers to Maleficent as her Fairy Godmother.
Even though Maleficent is a heroine, she is still presented as a satanic figure. Her iconic horns (which Disney artist Marc Davis, who designed Maleficent, says were inspired by the traditional look of the devil, to “frighten everybody half to death”) are present even before Stefan's betrayal.
Shortly after Stefan is done with his chat with Maleficent's wings, Queen Leila dies of an illness, and she never gets the chance to meet her daughter, who on the other hand is unaware of her identity and was not given the chance to learn about her mother due to Stefan's obsession causing him to neglect her as well.
Maleval (Male/ficent and Dia/val) is the friendship/romantic pairing of Maleficent and Diaval, the eponymous protagonist and the tritagonist of Disney's Maleficent franchise. The actors who portray Maleficent and Diaval are Angelina Jolie and Sam Riley, respectively.

Who woke up after a long sleep when Prince kissed her?
His version of the story is the first to have Sleeping Beauty woken up by a kiss from her prince and the infamous spinning wheel that causes her to sleep one hundred years. It is far darker than the tale that is most known today, called Briar Rose, written by the Brothers Grimm.
