While it is no secret that, aside from Jar-Jar Binks, C-3PO is perhaps the most hated character within the Star Wars universe as he constantly complains and treats the much more useful R2-D2 terribly.
The Ewoks think C-3PO is a god, so he should have been able to intercede, but the droid refuses to help his friends. He claims it's against his programming to impersonate a deity. Rather than serving his master's needs, C-3PO would have served his master up on a platter.
However, C-3PO's sassiness comes by way of their relationship with traveling companion R2-D2. C-3PO wants to go about completing tasks and do the right thing; however, he also tries to avoid conflict as much as possible, which, in turn, makes them seem a little bit like a coward.

C-3PO is a droid. "He" is only even a "he" because someone opted to give him and leave him with a male voice. He's a protocol droid, not a sex toy, so he does not appear to have any sort of sexual functions at all.

Since Obi-Wan and Anakin often fought together, Obi-Wan was friends with R2-D2 as well. This means that although R2-D2 might not have immediately recognized Obi-Wan on Tatooine due to his age, Obi-Wan should have recognized the droid.
