Because Aladdin, the "diamond in the rough," was the only person that Cave would allow to enter it. Where is Aladdin supposed to take place? The Disney movies take place in the land of Agrabah, a fictional country in the middle east.
It is a hidden cavern filled with vast riches and magical artifacts, most notably, the genie's magic lamp. The cave can only be entered by an individual whose "worth lies far within"—the diamond in the rough.
When Aladdin is tasked to find the lamp as ordered by Jafar to make him rich (this time not disguised as an elderly beggar), the Cave of Wonders then accepts him as he is described as the "Diamond in the Rough".
Instead he is actually chosen by the evil magician, Jafar, because he is a good person. In a scene from the movie Jafar says he has chosen Aladdin because he is “a diamond in the rough.” This is comforting to us, because the hero is good; he is someone children can look up to.
Aladdin is still wearing a magic ring the sorcerer has lent him. When he rubs his hands in despair, he inadvertently rubs the ring and a genie appears and releases him from the cave, allowing him to return to his mother while in possession of the lamp.
Aladdin eventually makes his way back to Agrabah to warn Razoul, but Jafar, posing as Jasmine, frames Aladdin for the Sultan's alleged murder and sentences him to execution.

Whether Disney was actually planning Aladdin 4 before the untimely death of Robin Willaims or not, Willaims made it clear in his will that he didn't want his voice clips from the original Aladdin to be used in any media for the next 25 years after his death.
Realizing that what Aladdin says is true and that he's still “second best”, Jafar, consumed by his hunger for power, uses his final wish to become an all-powerful genie, in an attempt to rule the whole universe.

Jafar KNEW he wouldn't pass the sniff test himself and needed some hapless souls to test run the process until he found someone worthy... the "diamond in the rough" who would be capable of retrieving the lamp and get back out. What did the magician tell Aladdin to do inside the cave?
One day, a suspicious merchant comes up to Aladdin's mother and says he will make them rich if she sends Aladdin with him. After covering some distance, the magician disguised as a merchant took some powder from his pocket, threw it, and a cave appeared. He asked Aladdin to get inside the cave and get a lamp for him.
Rajah was originally a circus tiger as a cub, who found his way into the Sultan's palace after escaping the touring circus group during a visit to Agrabah. He was discovered by a, then, young Princess Jasmine, who assumed the cub was a gift from her deceased mother.
Finally, as it been revealed that Aladdin is not a prince, he can't marry Jasmine because of the law. He could use the last wish, but he already promised to use the third to release the genie free.
Before getting captured, Aladdin tricks Jafar into wishing to become a genie. In a flash, Jafar ends up trapped inside his own magic lamp ("Jafar's Demise"). For his final wish, Aladdin frees Genie.
While the Genie is willing to sacrifice his freedom in order to allow Aladdin to be with Princess Jasmine, Aladdin decides to live up to his original promise and uses his final wish to free the Genie from his lamp's power, much to the latter's surprise and happiness.
Jafar displays narcissistic tendencies, his most obvious ones being his obsessive desire for power and sense of entitlement. However, his lust for power does not stem from a mere desire for authority (though this is a motivating factor), but rather an intolerance for subordination.
Storyline wise it's just a short reprise of the main film really, and it truly is short, even for an animated move. The worst aspect is, of course, the lack of Robin Williams portraying the Genie, Dan Castellaneta does his best, but he's only ever a poor imitation of the original performance.
The lyrics to the version of "Arabian Nights" heard in this film were lifted from the original demo version of the song. Robin Williams was not a part of this movie due to a disagreement with Disney (see trivia for Aladdin (1992). Walt Disney Television Animation Australia animates the first 34 minutes of the film.
A broken agreement over merchandising led to a public feud between Disney and Robin Williams, resulting in his recasting and a sour relationship. Disney's new chairman eventually issued a public apology to Williams, resolving the feud and bringing him back to voice the Genie in a later Aladdin installment.

Nevertheless, though he didn't mind stealing from the marketplace denizens, albeit forcibly so, Aladdin was, in no way, a selfish character. Not only were the thefts for survival, as mentioned before, Aladdin was never above sacrificing his food for the less fortunate of Agrabah, such as starving children.
She also is mentioned to have been the victim of murder, which caused her husband to keep their daughter inside the palace for protection. It is hinted that Jafar may be responsible for her death, for he was very keen on taking over Sherabad.
