By the 1990s, most of the magical population were half-bloods. The children of Harry and Ginny Potter were considered half-bloods because although Ginny was pure-blood, Harry's mother was Muggle-born. The term was used as an insult from members of fanatical pure-blood families.
It's revealed that the Half-Blood Prince was a nickname which Snape coined for himself whilst at Hogwarts. The title pays tribute to the wizard's blood status. Like Harry, Snape was a Half-Blood. His father, Tobias Snape, was a Muggle, whilst his mother, Eileen Prince, was a witch.
Because to a pureblood fanatic like Bellatrix, Harry is a Mudblood because one of his parents (Lily Evans) was a Muggleborn. Anyone with Muggle ancestry is one, including Snape since his father was a Muggle (Tobias).
Lily Luna Potter (b. c. 2008) was an English half-blood witch, the youngest child and only daughter of Harry and Ginevra Potter (née Weasley). Lily had two older brothers, James Sirius and Albus Severus Potter.
People of this mixed parentage are called half-bloods; magical people with any Muggle ancestry on the one side or the other are half-bloods as well. The most prominent Muggle-born in the Harry Potter series is Hermione Granger, who was born to Muggles of undisclosed names.

An interesting fact of note is that despite the ideals that pure-bloods are inherently more powerful wizards, some of the most powerful or particularly adept wizards and witches in the series are in fact either half-blood (such as Lord Voldemort, Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape and Harry Potter) or ...
Despite being a pure-blood, he didn't believe that he was superior to other witches, wizards and Muggles. He had a lot going for him and his well-placed morals were even more impressive if you think about the start that he had in life. Sirius came from a family of pure-blood fanatics.
Draco Lucius Malfoy (b. 5 June 1980) was a British pure-blood wizard and the only son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy (née Black). The son of a Death Eater, Draco was raised to strongly believe in the importance of blood purity. He looked down on half-bloods and Muggle-borns.
The pure-blood wizards and witches featured in the Harry Potter books are almost all supremacists, while there are some of them who do not advocate ancestral superiority; the Potters, Weasleys, and Longbottoms are old pure-blood families, but no known members of these families are sympathetic to supremacist aims.
Sometime following this, Bellatrix would secretly engage in a sexual relationship with Voldemort. Out of this union would be born their daughter Delphini, who would be given over to be raised by the Rowle family, a family sworn to Voldemort.
It is assumed Bellatrix was at least initially drawn to Lord Voldemort because they both believe in an ideology that favors pure-blood wizards and witches over other members of the community. This elitism, shared by the Malfoy and Lestrange clans, was instilled in Bellatrix since childhood.
Severus Snape's nickname, the Half-Blood Prince, was a clever description of his half-blood lineage. Snape chose the name as a tribute to his mother and to distance himself from his muggle father, drawing an interesting parallel between this character and Lord Voldemort.
As the series progresses, it is revealed that his treatment of Harry stems from Snape's bitter rivalry with James when they were in school together. In particular, James and Sirius bullied Snape, which according to Alan Rickman caused the already lonely boy to further "shut himself in".
This meant Malfoy still had some work to do. When the bird thing died, he was crying because his initial plan wasn't going to work, he had failed again. He knew that if he did not go through with the task Lord Voldemort would kill him and his family, and so he tried over and over again.

Remus fought at the Battle of Hogwarts on 2 May 1998, during which his wife was murdered by Bellatrix Lestrange. Remus was also murdered by Death Eater Antonin Dolohov, during the first half of the same battle. His death was possibly avenged by Filius Flitwick.
Under the influence of her father, Dolores grew up despising her mother and brother for their lack of magical abilities. She was sorted into Slytherin House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and hated her time at the school due to never being given any positions of power.
Bellatrix Lestrange (1951—2 May, 1998) also known as Bella, was a pure-blood witch, the daughter of Cygnus and Druella Black and elder sister to Andromeda and Narcissa. She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1962 and was sorted into Slytherin house.
Luna married fellow naturalist Rolf Scamander, grandson of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander, considerably later in life than Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny, who all married and started families in their early-to-mid twenties.
