The one essential thing was to make the audience enthralled with the character of Kong so that they wouldn't notice or care that he was 18 feet high or 40 feet, just as long as he fitted the mystery and excitement of the scenes and action.
As for how the size increase works regarding the movie's story, Kong getting bigger is set up in Skull Island when it explains that King Kong wasn't fully grown yet. Kong was still an adolescent at the time of Skull Island.
The Kongs were large apes brought to Skull Island by the Tagu and Atu people, and were selectively bred to reach their gigantic size, with the final result in King Kong being enormous even by the standards of his species.
In the movies, King Kong is reputed to be more than 100 meters (330 feet) tall and weigh some 158 tons. Godzilla is supposedly even bigger: a whopping 120 meters (390 feet) tall and 164 tons. But these monsters will only stomp across the movie screen.
In the 1956 American version, Godzilla is estimated to be 121.9 m (400 ft) tall, because producer Joseph E. Levine felt that 50 m did not sound "powerful enough". As the series progressed, Toho would rescale the character, eventually making Godzilla as tall as 100 m (328 ft).
Similarly, when an animal gets really big, its bones and muscles have to evolve to support all that weight, and it becomes more and more difficult to do so. In one of the movies, Godzilla was 390 feet tall. At that size, it would be really difficult for its heart to pump blood to its brain.
"Kong is bigger in this film. There's a line in Skull Island that he's still growing, so he's an adolescent in that film," said Garcia. "Where we begin 40-something years later he is significantly larger, but he's still the Kong.
Indeed, nor could they ever. The Godzilla x Kong: The News Empire version of Godzilla is 177 metres long and weighs over 90,000 tonnes. Kong stands 103 metres tall and weighs over 50,000 tonnes. Land-living animals of this size simply aren't possible.
Kong didn't bow before Godzilla like the other Titans did in King of the Monsters, and more than that, Kong is inherently a threat to Godzilla's kingship. Add that to the fact that Godzilla can feel Kong's every move with his planet-scoping power, and the ultimate battle between the two was completely unavoidable.
Kong's species was wiped out by the Skullcrawlers in a grand and brutal battle, leaving Kong as the last survivor on Skull Island. Kong's survival was due to his mother hiding him away during the battle, but his strength and eventual rise as the King of Skull Island were fueled by rage and fury.
Longevity: Kong's species can live during millions of years, and they only die if they are killed. Formidable fighter. Incredible agility and strength, able to produce punches with a force of Magnitude 4.2. Speed: Should scale to Godzilla, who can keep up with King Ghidorah.
Godzilla's Pink Atomic Power Is A Result Of His Evolution
As revealed in Godzilla x Kong, Godzilla's completely revamped appearance was a direct result of another Titan's energy. Specifically, the pink upgrade came courtesy of Tiamat, one of the 11 unseen monsters mentioned in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Size. In Godzilla (2014), Godzilla is 354 ft (108 m) tall. In Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and Godzilla vs Kong (2021), his height is increased to 393 ft (120 m) tall. In Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire it is increased again to 416 ft (127 m) tall.
The smaller size of Godzilla in Godzilla Minus One actually enhances the sense of danger and brutality, making it more terrifying than its larger predecessors. The smaller scale of the action sequences allows for a closer look at the monster's brutality, with close-up shots emphasizing its animalistic nature.
Is there any truth to the 'King Kong' myth of a giant gorilla? Nah, not really. 25-ft to 140-ft tall gorillas could never happen. Gigantopithecus was the biggest ape that ever lived, and that got to about 1,000 lbs in weight.
It wasn't until Godzilla himself defeated Skar King and imprisoned him and his army in the Hollow Earth that the surface was saved. So, no wonder Godzilla would hate every member of the Kong species, as they helped destroy his kind.
Instead, Godzilla acknowledged Kong as an equal and he returned to the sea. While it's impossible to know for sure what's in the hearts and minds of giant monsters, Kong apparently earned Godzilla's respect so the lizard left him alone.
Kong, it was demonstrated early on that Godzilla had him beat in a contest of raw power. His atomic breath put Kong at an even greater disadvantage. Acquiring the axe helped even the odds a bit and gave him a fighting chance against Godzilla, but while it certainly helped, it ultimately wasn't enough.
Wiz: Both are extremely resistant and very durable, because both have resisted attacks that could make pieces to almost anyone, but just as in force, Godzilla wins in this aspect, because like the Hulk, this resistance and durability this force bonded with his wrath.
Godzilla has defeated just about anything that humanity and monsterkind have thrown at him. He stomps on tanks and knocks fighter planes out of the sky with ease, and he's trounced King Kong and Mechagodzilla. If there's a foe that Godzilla can't seem to beat, though, it's inertia.
Godzilla came back and beat Kong, which makes sense given Kong's wounds and Godzilla's nigh-invincibility, as well as his ability to absorb radiation to recharge himself. But rather than kill him like he did the MUTOs and Ghidorah, Godzilla initially left Kong to succumb to his wounds.
The massive growth spurt isn't the only thing that's changed about Kong. In addition to his increased size, Kong appears much older in other ways. His fur has taken on a darker shade, and he's grown a beard that gives him the wise, seasoned look of a Titan who has lived a long life.
Summary. Kong's strength comes from being the result of a disastrous Titan War on Skull Island that wiped out his species. The war created an accidental process of selective breeding, leaving only the two strongest apes alive: Kong's parents.
