Some of the most visually startling moments in Denis Villeneuve's Blade Runner 2049 are the distinctively orange and hazy Las Vegas scenes. The look for these was said to be inspired by a rare Sydney sandstorm (one that I remember living through).

After finishing his assignment, he left Los Angeles with the replicant, Rachael, who later died during a caesarean section delivery of their child. Deckard left the child in the care of a replicant freedom group and helped to scramble the birth records to protect her identity. He then went into hiding in Las Vegas.
Because of this memory, K became convinced that he was Rachael and Deckard's child, but was eventually informed by Freysa that he was not and that the child was female. With this revelation, K soon determined that Stelline was the child. K took Deckard to Stelline's lab as she interacted with a snowfall hologram.
In a 2023 interview, Ford stated that he "always knew" that Deckard was a replicant, but wanted to "push back against it", adding that a replicant (or at least, Deckard) would want to believe that they are human.

One of the most significant – and moving – sequences in Blade Runner 2049 arrives in its third act, when K learns that he is not, in fact, Deckard and Rachael's missing child. K is what he was told he was all along: a replicant, nothing more, nothing less.
Deckard's bees are replicants of a different form. They are a shell of their long history, a history much deeper than that of human beings, and one that will inevitably come to a silent end. When the colonies outside of Deckard's desert home die they will not be noticed as they were never truly alive.
Deckard's eyes glow briefly in one scene, which was used in the film to subtly suggest his replicant identity. However, Ford denies this was an intentional effect and he may have caught some of the light intended to fall on Sean Young's eyes.
Ana Stelline (Carla Juri), who is Deckard and Rachael's daughter but has no idea of this and now works as the world's best memory fabricator. We don't know if she planted that memory in only K's brain or in the brains of hundreds of replicants, hoping one of them would follow this message in a bottle. Maybe others did.
A key relationship in Blade Runner 2049 is between K and holographic girlfriend Joi (Ana de Armas, Knives Out). Blade Runner 2049's Joi is an A.I. designed by the Wallace Corporation to cater to the desires of customers, telling them what to want to hear.
The corporation also brought digital technology back to the planet's citizens with the introduction of the Wallace Datalink Network. Replicant prohibition was lifted in 2036 with the introduction of the Nexus-9. Despite the pressure to leave Earth, many humans continued to live on the overcrowded planet as of 2049.
Wallace himself wanted to discover the secret to reproduction in replicants in order to support interstellar colonization, and to this end he sent Luv, now his assistant, to steal Rachael's remains from the LAPD headquarters and follow K to find Rachael's child.
6/10/21. These numbers are written on the tree at Sapper Morton's farm, next to where we know Rachael was buried, and on the wooden horse Deckard carved for his daughter. Blade Runner 2049 never quite tells us what the numbers mean, but it's a safe assumption that was the day Ana was born, and the day Rachael died.
Later at K's apartment, he informed Joi of his conclusion that his memory was indeed real. This overjoyed her, as she always believed him to be special, insisting that he now be called "Joe." Unsure, K sought further information and Joi suggested finding the one responsible for creating memories for replicants.
However, he later learns that, even if the memory is real, it was not his own but Dr Ana Stelline's. Through her work, Dr Stelline shared her memory with K, and this allowed him to understand what it was like to walk in her shoes, but most importantly, to believe himself a free, loved replicant.
The second film further develops Rachael's origin, and gives significantly more details about her radical design. It revealed that she was an experimental model of replicant with a high percentage of human organs, including human reproductive organs, and that Rachael conceived a child with Deckard.
What was buried under the tree in Blade Runner 2049?
The following year, he helped hide the pregnant replicant Rachael, who died in childbirth and was buried under a tree where Morton would build a farm. He further assisted in hiding Rachael's offspring.
In the 2017 movie Blade Runner 2049 reference dirty bomb zone was detonated in Las Vegas. In the 2018 video game Detroit: Become Human, numerous endings depict Markus, one of three playable android characters in the game, setting off a cobalt-derived dirty bomb in southern Detroit to force the retreat of authorities.
The film is rooted in a futuristic version of the film noir style. Film noir is traditionally shot with a low key lighting approach to play up the mystery and suspense of the film. The lighting scheme in Blade Runner helps achieve this same mysterious and suspenseful feeling.
In Blade Runner 2049, Ana de Armas plays Joi, an artificial intelligence sold by the Wallace Corporation. She's a customizable hologram that the people of Blade Runner's futuristic America can purchase as a live-in romantic partner.
Deckard was a human in the 2019 (the 1982 film) and through a Herculean effort survived his encounter with Batty and fled Los Angeles with Rachael at some point after Batty's death. Deckard was a replicant and fled with Rachael, another replicant, after Batty's death.
Does Blade Runner 2049 confirm Deckard is not a replicant?
That seems pretty definitive, but even so – the film remains open to interpretation, and Denis Villeneuve's 2017 sequel “Blade Runner 2049” does nothing to confirm or deny Deckard's replicant nature.
