The Mandalorians' bloody history made their armor an iconic symbol of fear. Mandalorian armor was typically made from beskar, which was one of the strongest metals in the galaxy, but it could also be made from more common metals such as durasteel. Beskar could protect the wearer from blasters and even lightsabers.
Aside from looking cool, Mandalorian armor had both a practical and cultural significance to its wearer. Mandalorian armor was generally made with beskar, a durable alloy capable of deflecting blaster bolts and withstanding lightsabers.
In contrast, Din Djarin's armor was made from pure beskar, earned through the bounty on Grogu. This made Djarin's armor rare and even more durable than normal Mandalorian armor, allowing it to stay shiny and undamaged even when he walked into a barrage of blaster fire.
As the demand for Beskar grew across the galaxy, armorers started. mixing the rare metal with other alloys, which made the armor less effective. Mandalorian suits of armor that are pure Beskar. have become extremely rare. and are therefore highly sought after.
Din Djarin's armor was unique to him, being one of the only Mandalorians who wear pure beskar armor. Din Djarin's Armor had 2 variants, Din's old, and Din's new armor. After his fight with the Mudhorn, Din had to replace his armor, as it was of no use anymore.

Why isn't mandos armor painted?
The appearance of a Mandalorian's armor was largely up to the individual, as the highly independent Mandalorian people customized their armor with different colored paint schemes, clan and unit sigils, personalized glyphs, or other marking patterns in accordance to their own tastes.
What makes much of the armor in The Clone Wars different from Din Djarin's or Bo-Katan and her Nite Owl's is that it isn't pure Beskar. The Mandalorian makes a point of saying that he finds pure Beskar, which is the metal in its best and strongest state.
Jango Fett's armor was partly made of durasteel, and General Grievous had some parts of his body made of this material. Darth Vader's armor was mostly made of durasteel, as was Boba Fett's before he upgraded during the Second Galactic Civil War to armor made of beskar.
The purest form of beskar was capable of repelling the strikes of a lightsaber for brief amounts of time, and could withstand direct blaster fire. Pure beskar could still be damaged by weapons also made out of beskar; because of this, making weapons out of beskar was considered illegal by the Children of the Watch.
In "Trials of the Darksaber," Kanan told Sabine Wren that when someone wields a lightsaber, his or her thoughts fuel the blade's energy. So, if they were off-balance or conflicted, then the blade would feel heavy. The Armorer said as much when she told Din that he was fighting against the blade.
So in the end, While Boba Fett had the more destructive arsenal, and had more experienced, Mando just had the better armour armour, the skill, and the versatility to take Down Boba Fett. Boomstick: Looks like Mando, is the greatest bounty hunter of all time! the winner, IS THE MANDALORIAN!!!!
Boba Fett's armor was inherited from his clone template—or "father"—Jango Fett, who received it from the Mandalorians after he became a foundling. Fett originally bore his armor as a Mandalorian warrior during the Mandalorian Civil Wars, the conflict during which he was given the armor in the first place.
From something as small as a pauldron, which Din once removed to ease Grogu to sleep in The Mandalorian season 1, to an entire suit of armor as Sabine is seen doing in Ahsoka, a Mandalorian is allowed to remove their armor.
Beskar armors can resist bullets and blasters, as seen in “The Mandalorian” and “Book of Boba Fett.” Nothing can penetrate Beskar armors and helmets. Beskar weapons are as strong as their armors. The best thing about Mandalorian Beskar is its ability to resist a lightsaber.
To be clear, Grogu is not a younger version of Yoda since "The Mandalorian" is set after "Return of the Jedi," in which Yoda (played by Frank Oz) died. They are, however, of the same species — but that species has not yet been revealed. There are more similarities between Yoda and Grogu than just looks.
Kylo Ren's obsession with Vader is clear, but Star Wars never explained how he acquired the helmet. It is speculated that he may have found it himself on Endor, or it could have been passed down to him by Supreme Leader Snoke.
The helmet was designed to look sinister; as a Knight of Ren, Ren was part of an enclave of dark side warriors who wore masks to induce fear in their prey. Ren's helmet was a symbolic reminder of his lineage as Darth Vader's grandson, serving no practical use in his life.
Obsidian in the armor supercharged Vader's dark side power, turning anger into a power source. The Empire couldn't use beskar in the armor due to a lack of knowledge on forging the Mandalorian alloy.
Why did Jedi stop wearing armor in the Clone Wars?
Ditching the armor in favor of the traditional robes might have been a strategic decision made by the Jedi Order to try to improve the galaxy's perception of the Jedi. Essentially, having the Jedi wear armor in the first three seasons of Clone Wars was a practical decision to save the show's time and budget.
All of Gideon's Stormtroopers were wearing beskar armor, and Moff Gideon's Dark Trooper armor was also made of beskar. The fact that Gideon's armor was beskar was an insult in and of itself.
(Fun fact: According to Star Wars canon, Phasma's armor isn't beskar either. It was actually made using scrap metal taken from Emperor Palpatine's old yacht.)
Why can Bo-Katan use the Darksaber better than Mando?
Naturally, the same rules of the Darksaber apply to Bo-Katan, though she wields the weapon with ease against Djarin's captor. This is presumably because Bo-Katan possesses much greater confidence about her identity, even when she has lost faith in her mission to restore Mandalore.
It's possible that Gideon used the pure beskar from a fallen Mandalorian in order to craft his own helmet from scratch, or he just used it as is. It's also a possibility that Esposito's villain is using the same general helmet of a dead Mandalorian but made some alterations to it along the way.
The Mandalorians agree, and Bo-Katan is seen as the leader of her people for the first time since the Great Purge. Bo's wielding of the Darksaber was instrumental in retaking Mandalore, despite the legendary weapon being destroyed by Moff Gideon during the fight.
