The Hunger Games series shows a crude and realistic dystopian world in which the Capitol lives out of the free labor of 12 districts. This ruthless society even has the Hunger Games, a televised competition where they force 24 children from the districts to kill each other as tribute.
Within the Hunger Games Trilogy novel there are physical inhumanity appears such as the killing field in the battle field where a lot of people (tributes) dies because they want to free and win the game. The killing can be everything such as hitting, stabing, shooting or all of slays activity and loosing others live.
The film contains segments of intense violence involving Hunger Game contestants viciously slaughtering each other with a variety of weapons including hunting knives, swords, spears and arrows as well as being physically bashed to death.
The main conflict in The Hunger Games is man against society, or in Katniss's case, woman against society. The Games are tools of the dystopic society, and they are used in such a manner that creates terribly conflict for young people who are randomly selected as tributes to fight to the death of one or the other.
I think the cruelest part was forcing the kids to kill each other. Not to mention making their families watch, making them anticipate and celebrate it, the whole forced "in love" thingy..and more. Just the cruelty of it all.

Is there an inappropriate scene in The Hunger Games?
There is no sex of nudity but there are a few kissing scenes. There is violence but nothing I think a mature 11 year old can't handle. There is also some swearing and drinking but not to much. Definitely recommend it!

While Effie Trinket is one of the most beloved characters in The Hunger Games, she's also inadvertently a cruel member of the Capitol. Yes, Katniss did develop an addiction to the morphling, on account of constantly being sedated with it, however, I wouldn't say that she was an addict. An addict is someone who goes to a substance (or whatever their 'poison' may be) under their own mind.
Presently, those aspects of her life form her identity. She decides she doesn't ever want to have kids because even though she would be a victor, her children wouldn't be exempt from the reapings.
According to the star behind Effie, Elizabeth Banks, she and Haymitch's Woody Harrelson improvised the scene. Considering she's been adamant about the characters having some romantic connection, it only makes sense that they'd share a goodbye kiss. It's very on-brand for Effie, as well.
