Actor Jenna Ortega will not be returning for Scream 7, the forthcoming installment in the long-running Scream horror movie franchise, Deadline reports. According to the outlet, Ortega's departure is due to the shooting schedule for Netflix's massively successful series Wednesday, in which she stars as Wednesday Addams.
Jenna Marie Ortega is an actress who portrayed Tara Carpenter in the Scream franchise. She appeared in Scream (2022 film) and Scream VI (2023 film) respectively.
In November 2023, both Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, who played sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter in Scream (2022) and Scream VI, were confirmed to not be returning for the next movie. Then in December 2023, director Christopher Landon exited the sequel, calling it a "dream job that turned into a nightmare".
Scream 7 is confirmed to be in development. The news came with the announcement that the franchise would see a change in directors. In August 2023, it was revealed that Radio Silence would not be returning for Scream 7 after having directed 2022's Scream and Scream 6.
