In the beginning of the Clone Wars, CC-2224 was a captain, but when General Kenobi saw his skill, he recommended the trooper for a promotion. CC-2224 was then made a marshal commander. During his service to the Republic, Cody saw worlds fall.

Ahsoka was with the 501st legion whereas Cody was in the 212th. The two of them were both commanders, however Ahsoka had an upper edge. She was a Jedi Padawan, meaning she outranked any clone trooper. So technically, if Cody was in her legion, he would follow her orders.
