There have been no discussions about continuing the Unbreakable franchise with a fourth installment, but M. Night Shyamalan has now revealed a scrapped idea for Glass that would have connected The Visit to the series.
After the completion of the Unbreakable trilogy, Shyamalan said that he was open to continue the story forward if a good enough idea struck him. Later, though, he said that he did not want to continue the story and make it a cinematic universe, at least not anymore than what it already was.
The trilogy consists of Unbreakable (2000), Split (2016), and Glass (2019). The franchise features the character David Dunn, a man who discovers he has the abilities of a superhero.
"I probably wouldn't [do another sequel]," the filmmaker told ComicBook.com while discussing his latest movie, Knock at the Cabin (now playing in theaters). "Originally, Unbreakable was supposed to be a trilogy, so that's the way I thought of it, as a long story. Beyond that, not really."
Glass is a 2019 superhero film written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, who also produced with Jason Blum, Marc Bienstock, and Ashwin Rajan. The film is a crossover and sequel to Shyamalan's previous films Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016) and the third and final installment in the Unbreakable trilogy.
