Matthew Lillard has confirmed that he's returning as Shaggy in a mystery Scooby-Doo project. As well as playing Shaggy in Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Matthew has been the voice of Shaggy in all animated iterations of the iconic character since 2009, following the retirement of Casey Kasem.

Will Scooby be in Velma?
After seeing what Velma decided to do with one season 2 character, it's quite a relief that Scooby-Doo isn't present in the spinoff show. Velma is a Max original animated series that was written by and stars The Office alum, Mindy Kaling.
The first episode of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! "What a Night for a Knight" debuted on the CBS network Saturday, September 13, 1969, at 10:30 AM Eastern Time.
Of course, she also does her share of sweet-talking too. During the first season of the 2010–2013 series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Velma is in a romantic relationship with Shaggy, much to the distaste of Scooby-Doo. Their relationship ends in "Howl of the Fright Hound" (season 1, episode 10).

Before the release of Monsters Unleashed, a third live-action Scooby-Doo film was in early development, with Gunn set as writer and director. However, despite the threequel being scrapped due to the poor box office performance of Monsters Unleashed, Gunn has expressed interest in revisiting the franchise.

Is Matthew Lillard doing another Scooby-Doo movie?
He was replaced as the voice of Shaggy for the 2020 film Scoob!, but in a new interview (via Toonado), Lillard confirmed that he's now back to work as Shaggy for an immersive Scooby-Doo project.
Now, the 54-year-old has confirmed he's involved in a new Scooby-Doo project. Speaking to Toonado, he said: “I'm really excited about [Scooby-Doo]. I can't really talk about it yet, but there's a new project I'm associated with that will allow kids to put themselves into a Scooby-Doo adventure.
According to notes written by original creators Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, which is the most directly reliable source, Fred and Shaggy are both 17, Daphne is 16, and Velma is 15 years old. Scooby is meant to be 7.
Velma figures out that Victoria Jones is the killer, trying to recreate Dr. Perdue's work to switch Fred's brain to a more competent person, so he could be a proper heir to the family company.
Charlie then continued to explain that there were licensing issues which meant that they couldn't put Scooby in the series even if they wanted to. He said: "[Us having doubts about putting Scooby in the show] coincided with Warner Bros. Animation saying, 'Hey, you can't use the dog'.
Did Shaggy and Daphne ever date at any point in any of the series/storylines? No, Shaggy and Daphne have never dated in the Scooby-Doo franchise. The closest the two ever may have came to such was when they made out in the Scooby-Doo!
