Character information Gizmo (also referred to as "Giz") is the protagonist in Gremlins movie franchise and Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. Gizmo is an adorable, very kind Mogwai who is part of Billy Peltzer's life. Originally owned by Sam Wing, Gizmo lives with Billy and Kate Peltzer in New York.
Randall names the mogwai "Gizmo" and explains the three rules. Gizmo is friendly and docile, but when Billy's friend Pete accidentally spills water on Gizmo, five more mogwai spawn from him, a more mischievous sort led by the aggressive Stripe, named after the mohawk-like tuft of fur on his head.
Gizmo is the only known mogwai to not have a speck of hatred or evil in him, unlike his fellow mogwai who are often cruel, mean, abusive, and vicious, although he did have a bit of hatred when Mohawk kept bullying him and got revenge. This is because he is a Minority Mogwai, a mogwai that is kind and nice.
After a period of time, the mogwai has now transformed into a scaly gremlin, which hatches from the cocoon. What happens with the cocoon is unknown, but it is possible that the hatched cocoon stays where it is like with insects that hatch from cocoons.
And when they ate after midnight, they transformed into scaly, sharp toothed killers. Gizmo, however, never became like them. In fact, he fought against the gremlins.
As the goddess of creation, Nuwa has the ability to restore gremlins to their Mogwai form, which she does multiple times during Secrets of the Mogwai's first season.
Then Gizmo became much more assertive than he was in the first movie because, as Billy said, "they pushed him too far." As one of the first generation of mogwai, Gizmo is exceptionally long-lived and without having a speck of hatred in him, unlike the Mogwai that were spawned from him.
Stripe was very hostile to Gizmo the Mogwai. His dislike for Gizmo may have been because he did not want the other Mogwai to refer to Gizmo as their leader because they were born from him. This is the form we see Gizmo as throughout the film. Mogwai are the cute, cuddly, fuzzy forms. It is what happens if you feed them after midnight where they have earned their name gremlins! Feeding the Mogwai causes them to metamorphosize, similar to a caterpillar.
Sunlight will kill them. Never get them wet: If they get wet, Mogwai will budd furballs on its back, which detach and give rise to a new generation of Mogwai, considerably more aggressive than their progenitor.
Fans have always been curious where the cute fuzzball came from. Fortunately, the Max Original series revealed he originated in a region in China known as the Valley of Jade. While Gizmo the fearless warrior's tribe was shown (as well has how he ended up among mankind), it was never revealed how he was actually made.
His parents are Randall Peltzer and Lynn Peltzer. Randall, a struggling inventor, is the one who gave Gizmo, a Mogwai, to Billy for a Christmas present. With this cuddly present came three rules: keep them away from bright light. Don't let them get wet.
