Metalbending was alluded to by Aang when he offhandedly stated, "What I'd give to be a metalbender", as he tried to carve a notch in the hull of the Fire Nation drill with waterbending. His immediate successor, Avatar Korra, would go on to become the first Avatar to master the art of metalbending.
Can Aang metalbend? No he can't. No, in the Imbalance comic Toph said he was too soft. Toph said he couldn't learn it, suying called korra the first metalbending avatar.
There are five known bending arts; four of them bend a specific physical element while the fifth bends the energy within the human body itself. The only case of any one person being able to bend multiple elements is the Avatar, who has the ability to practice all five bending arts.
Avatar Extras for "The Avatar State" stated that lavabending was a combination of earthbending and firebending and thus something that only the Avatar could accomplish. Book Three: Change retconned this and portrayed lavabending to be a rare specialized technique of earthbending.

Bending Is Not Necessarily Genetic In Avatar: The Last Airbender. Bending can skip generations so that a bender can be born to non-bender parents. Bending abilities appear to be a blend of genetics and spirituality, rather than being of a singular origin.
In The Legend of Korra season 3, new airbending abilities began to randomly appear in non-bending people from all nations. It was a huge surprise to the characters and the audience. This happened as a result of the Harmonic Convergence, a rare supernatural phenomenon that occurs once every ten thousand years.
Flight, also called weightlessness, is a complex and extremely rare skill that has only ever been demonstrated by two known airbenders, Guru Laghima and Zaheer. It is referred to as the highest level of airbending, and was such a unique ability, that it was believed to only exist in legends.
Despite how widespread metalbending would become over the next 70 years, it is noted that only one out of a hundred earthbenders ever master the art, though metalbending master Suyin Beifong believes the only real limitation in learning the ability are the ones a person places on themselves.
Bloodbending, from what we've seen, is used to end a fight quickly by controlling others. It can even keep them from bending. And the avatar—with the avatar state powering them—would probably be able to bloodbend whenever they want.
Bloodbending is arguably the deadliest bending sub-style in the series. The technique was created by Hama, a Fire Nation prisoner from the Water Tribe, who perfected this technique by practicing on rats.
Lightbending was discovered by Avatar Shiron when a Firebender let his Yang overpower his Yin, then attempted to Generate Lightning which resulted in a white light. Shiron did this by himself, and due to him being a Yang-based Bender by being an Airbender, he created a massive light beam.

Avatar is about training and determination. So in theory anyone (with that element) can master any subelement. In practice, some techniques are so difficult some benders never seem to get them, and “talent” in the usual rather than the absolute sense might be needed.
Bumi was initially a nonbender, unlike his siblings who were benders from birth. This made him unique in his family and required him to rely on his intellect and physical abilities. However, following the reopening of the spirit portals, Bumi acquired airbending abilities.
The theocratic Air Nomads were home to a monastic order of men and women who practiced airbending. Unlike the other nations, the people of the Air Nomads were, without any seen exception, all benders due to the high level of spirituality of their people.
The Dark Avatar aimed to reunite the physical and spiritual realms as well as usher in a new world order of ten thousand years of darkness, but was defeated and killed by Korra, as an astral projection, during the Harmonic Convergence of 171 AG.
