In Twilight, Edward meets Bella Swan, a 17-year-old outcast whose thoughts he is unable to read, and whose blood smells overwhelmingly sweet to him. Edward builds a growing attraction to Bella, but after saving her life on several occasions, he succumbs and eventually falls in love with her.
When Bella Swan moves to a small town in the Pacific Northwest, she falls in love with Edward Cullen, a mysterious classmate who reveals himself to be a 108-year-old vampire.
His infatuation with her reaches the point that he sneaks into her room at night to watch her sleep. On the first night, while Bella is dreaming of Edward, she says his name in her sleep. Edward then realizes that he loves her, and tries to get close to her again.
She later tells Jessica and Angela that she never went to dances back in Phoenix and didn't have a boyfriend to go with. Edward also didn't date anyone seriously before Bella.
Bella starts thinking about the strange things she's noticed about Edward, like his incredible speed, agility, and strength. Even though Bella suspects that Edward might be a vampire, she can't stop pining after him.
In New Moon, a lot of fans began to argue that Bella clearly has feelings for Jacob. As the series continue, that only became clearer, especially when she asked Jacob to kiss her in Eclipse. Despite being in love with Jacob, Bella constantly chooses Edward over him.
I wouldn't consider this Bella cheating on Edward, based on the fact that she was coerced into it, and she clearly would never have kissed Jacob if he hadn't made her feel as though she didn't have a choice.
The age difference between Edward and Bella was always weird. Bella is 17 and Edward is 104. Even though he has been in a 17-year-old body for "a while" as an immortal being, he's still 87 years older than her, and Bella is underage.
At the end of Eclipse, she becomes engaged to Edward Cullen, and they marry in Breaking Dawn, one month prior to her 19th birthday. On their honeymoon, she becomes pregnant, and, due to the peculiar nature of her baby, Bella nearly dies giving birth to their daughter, Renesmee.
Edward is constantly having to keep their kissing as chaste as possible to protect Bella from his dangerous venom (and his bloodlust) while Bella regularly describes herself as latching onto him, pushing him to go further.
And when it really came down to it, Bella's family life was complicated and incomplete, whereas Edward's was surprisingly traditional and whole, especially considering it was made up of vampires. In the end, Bella may choose Edward because she loves him more, but that emotion is rooted in her loneliness.
In The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1 (2011), Bella and Edward are finally married, and they are able to “ethically” consummate their relationship. Bella makes Edward promise to turn her, and insists on having sex with him for the first time while she is still human, for reasons unknown.
By imprinting on Renesmee, Jacob has imbued her with protection from other werewolves in his tribe. Jacob explained to Bella that he was never actually attracted to her but to the baby, Renesmee, developing in Bella's womb, an explanation that has troubled people ever since.
Rosalie is annoyed and jealous of Bella partly because Edward finds her attractive. "Twilight" shows fans Rosalie's annoyance with Bella but doesn't really explain some of the reasoning behind it until the sequel. She doesn't understand Bella's desire to be a vampire when Rosalie wishes she could be human again.
Edward had a theory that Bella's overwhelmingly appealing blood may be derived from a mixture of her parents'—Renée's being far too sweet and Charlie's being moderate—together, giving her blood a more powerful appeal. The blood of singers is described by Edward as being said vampire's "own personal brand of heroin".
Summary. In The Twilight Saga, Bella's pregnancy with Renesmee lasted only 28 days due to her hybrid nature as a half-human, half-vampire, causing rapid growth. Renesmee's accelerated growth during her early years was a result of her dhampir hybrid status, reaching full maturity by around seven years old.
After Bella has become a vampire, Jacob tells him about the underlying supernatural world and Bella's involvement with it, although without informing him directly that she has become a vampire. Despite the shock caused by the change, he learns to cope with it and ultimately remains a part of her new life.
Just before Bella's 19th birthday, Renesmee is born and Edward turns her to save her life. Bella becomes a vampire at 18 and will always appear to be 18 years old, which leads her to joke with Edward about being a year older than him despite their actual significant age difference.
How long were Bella and Edward dating before marriage?
Bella graduates from high school in Eclipse, which means by the time Edward and Bella are engaged, they've known each other for about 15 or 16 months. Subtracting the months in which they were apart in New Moon, their romantic relationship was about a year old.
Edward does admit to Bella early on that he has been stuck at 17 for "a while." The fact that he's apparently a good match for a fellow teen, and fairly happy to attend school, implies his mind and his maturity level have remained frozen since he was turned into a vampire.
Bella falls in love with Jacob in New Moon. I think it's easy to understand why this fact doesn't occur to her. Bella has only fallen in love one time, and it was a very sudden, dramatic, sweep-you-off-your-feet, change-your-world, magical, passionate, all-consuming thing (see: Twilight).
Before the big breakup, the two characters shared a kiss outside Bella's home. Fans can agree that the kisses between Bella and Edward were a bit cringe-worthy, and this particular scene had fans either laughing or shielding their eyes as Bella asks for one more kiss before her birthday is over.
Edward (Robert Pattinson) injects Bella's heart with his venom in an attempt to transform her into a vampire, but his action appears to be futile as Bella remains lifeless.
Edward is controlling and possessive towards Bella. He stalks her, isolates her from her friends and family, and even destroys her car to prevent her from seeing her best friend.
