A new Star Trek comic has teased that Captain Kirk may have encountered Q, though he never knew it. Although Kirk encountered a number of god-like beings during his time as captain of the Enterprise, Q was never among them, yet IDW Publishing's Star Trek #3 suggests that Q did take a hand in Kirk's life.
Despite his supposed death, Q appears to Picard's son Jack Crusher in a mid-credits scene of the Star Trek: Picard series finale "The Last Generation." Q explains it was his future self that died, and that the trial of humanity hadn't truly ended; the defense attorney has just changed from Picard to Jack.
Star Trek uses the name "Q" for the names of all the individuals from the Q species. All male and female Q characters refer to each other as "Q." They also call their whole race "Q" and call their home "the Q Continuum" – an alternate dimension accessible to only the Q and people they choose to bring there.

At some point, Picard mentions that he has met Spock only once in the past. Indeed, in "Sarek" Picard mentioned that he had met Sarek during Sarek's son's wedding (the son presumably being Spock). While conversing with Picard, Sarek mentioned the many times that Spock would disobey him and travel to the mountains.

On the other hand, fans of TNG prefer Picard for his sophistication, his commanding demeanor, and the classically trained actor that portrays him.
However, another way to look at it is that Kirk was in the Nexus for 78 years. Star Trek Generations' prologue where Kirk was lost from the Enterprise-B was set in 2293, and Star Trek Generations' 'present day' is 2371.
