Elizabeth Perkins' appearance in Finding Nemo was all too brief, playing Coral, the wife of Marlin and mother of Nemo who dies at the fins of a barracuda. Perkins' largely onscreen résumé includes Big (1988), The Flintstones (1994), Miracle on 34th Street (1994), and the series Weeds.
There, they find Nemo, apparently dead (Nemo was actually faking it in an attempt to escape). Saddened, Marlin leaves for home, leaving Dory behind despite her claims that her memory is better with him.
What type of relationship do Marlin and Dory have?
The kind of symbiotic relationship between Dori and Marlin is mutualism. This kind of relationship is where two different organisms exist together and they benefit one another.
One of the best parts about their friendship is that they were opposites. Marlin was passive-aggressive and pessimistic, while Dory was optimistic. It's quite obvious that Dory has anterograde amnesia, which is the inability to form new memories. I also see many of the signs of ADHD within the character.
Dory suffers from severe short-term memory loss, but a lot of what she goes through can be adapted to other contexts, such as the world, or ocean, of ADHD. Dory has trouble with multi-step directions, is easily distracted, and is very impulsive.
During the movie Finding Nemo, Marlin is transitioning into a female clownfish. Clownfish are protandrous hermaphrodites, all individuals are born male and then transition into a female at some point in their life.
“Finding Nemo” would have ended very differently if it reflected the true lives of clownfish. That's because Nemo's dad would have turned into a female before he returned from his journey across the ocean, scientists have revealed.
QBI researcher Dr Fabio Cortesi said the Great Barrier Reef anemonefish was basically Nemo's cousin. “We looked at everything starting with the genes they use to see and what proteins they express, and in combination with anatomical data, predicted what these anemonefish can see,” he said.
In the film 'Finding Nemo', the character 'Gill' is a Moorish Idol. He has some pretty bad scarring, which he got from landing on dentist tools when he tried to escape one time. Fish do scar if they are damaged like that, though dentist tools are not usually found near fish tanks!
Nemo is a curious and impressionable six-year-old, only child who lives with his overprotective, single-parent father, Marlin. Having led a sheltered life, Nemo brims with the excitement of starting school and finally seeing the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.

Coral is a minor character in Disney/Pixar's 2003 animated film, Finding Nemo. She was the mate of Marlin and mother of Nemo and approximately 399 unborn clownfish. Unfortunately, Coral and her entire family were attacked by a barracuda in which all of them except Marlin and Nemo perished.
