When Odin tells Kratos that his son is the key to being free of fate and prophecy, the Spartan firmly tells him that Atreus is not a key. The All-father, knowing of who Kratos was, states to him that he is not the god that he once was and that now he has a chance to prove it.
During the three years, Odin became weary of Kratos' presence in Midgard, fearing that the Ghost of Sparta could challenge his control over the nine realms or ruin his plans.
Freya and Mimir very quickly realized that Kratos was a god, but Baldur and the others didn't. I wonder why? I'm sorry to be picky but that's not entirely accurate. You're implying Kratos character existed in Norse mythology, under a different name.
Odin allows it. But with Heimdall dead, Atreus decides he should return to Asgard. Odin will soon figure out that Kratos killed Heimdall, and that will surely lead to war. In the brief period of time before that happens, Atreus wants to head to Asgard to help Odin complete the mask.
Now onto their power and durability. Kratos should scale to GOW Thor, as we see him exchange blows with him in their first battle (despite holding back and being weakened by Fimbulwinter, though he did get killed and Thor wasn't allowed to kill him), and in their final fight Kratos defeats him.

So while Zeus' best feat is defeating a mountain-sized monster, Odin's best feat is defeating a monster as big as nine worlds. Odin outclasses Zeus in intelligence, versatility, strength, and weapons. Zeus simply can't compete. The winner is Odin, All-Father of the Æsir.

Throughout the entire game ,it seems that Kratos regretted killing Zeus and for the longest time and I couldn't really understand why. He becomes very solemn, quiet and sometimes defensive whenever he is brought up.

As Atreus and Kratos reach Jötunheim to spread Faye's ashes on the Giant Finger's mountain, they learn that she was a Jötunn. As Atreus wonders about his heritage, he also learns that his mother gave him the birth name Loki.
Portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, Odin is the powerful ruler of the Nine Realms who has sworn to protect every kingdom under his rule. With Odin still ruling Asgard, Thanos would have easily been stopped had he made a play for the Infinity Gauntlet.
Odin stands a good chance at defeating a moderately-fed Galactus. Odin has been stated to be equal to a moderately-fed Galactus. Though Galan did withstand a powerful headbutt from Odin. The Devourer had just consumed one planet before that.
