To build your own lightsaber, you will need to visit Savi's Workshop at Disney's Hollywood Studios. You can make reservations for Savi's Workshop 180-days in advance of your visit. Why is my build your own lightsaber not working at Disneyland?
Typically, if the Lightsaber does not make a sound or light up, the batteries could be the cause. The second thing that I would check is to remove the Kyber Crystal and reinsert it. The Kyber Crystal is located below the Lightsaber switch. The third area is to remove the lightsaber blade itself and reinstall it.

The $250 price point for Savi's Workshop is a bit of a turn off for the rest of the people in my party and I am likely the only one willing to do it. I've seen some videos of the experience. It seems neat and I like the idea of picking my lightsaber out piece by piece.
If you follow the Property Rules and heed the Prohibited Items list, you may bring both the lightsaber hilt and the blade into other Disney theme parks. While true weapons are most certainly prohibited, this indicates the kind of Earthly item that could harm another human and your lightsaber is not of that world.
