Penelope, Louise's mother, comes to the Hamptons and threatens to cut Louise off if she crosses her. As a result, Nolan, who found a loophole in Penelope's control over Louise's trust fund, decides to marry Louise.
Victoria tells David she knows he was planning to kill her but that she will do nothing to stop him and Emily having a life together. Meanwhile, when Louise's mother arrives in town, she and Nolan get married in order to take her rightful inheritance.
It almost happened! Later, just as Emily is ready to give up her revenge scheme, she discovers that due to her injuries she will never conceive children, which renews her vendetta and makes her even more determined.
The answer is pretty clear to VanCamp: “There really is not the element of love between Emily and Daniel. It's part of her plan. Jack and Aiden are her two great loves, for very different reasons.
In "Homecoming", Nolan first thought that Emily's plan went well until Jack told him that somebody shoot her. When she was hospitalized Nolan tried to see her but without a family member he couldn't see her. That's when Patrick betrayed him and choose her mother over him.
In the penultimate episode of Season 3, Conrad is arrested when his confession to framing David Clarke is broadcast to the entire world. In the season 3 finale, Conrad escapes from prison and is stabbed to death by a very much alive David Clarke.
However, before Amanda can fire, Victoria is fatally shot by David to spare Amanda having to commit murder. Before dying, Victoria shoots Amanda in the back, but she survives her wound. While David goes down for her murder, he is granted compassionate release due to his cancer and dies at home.
