If you are watching 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power', you must have heard the name of Númenor, a kingdom of Men (uppercase because it signifies the race), and even visited it. Númenor does not exist by the time we meet Bilbo Baggins in 'The Hobbit'.
Númenor is not mentioned in Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, and for a good reason. The island's dramatic rise and fall condemned the once-thriving kingdom to a fate similar to the fictional lost city of Atlantis. Nonetheless, Númenor played an essential role during the Second Age.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power features the island kingdom of Númenor, a long-lost civilization from J. R. R. Tolkien's writings that had never been depicted on screen before the show.

History. Aragorn is a direct descendent of the Faithful Numenoreans from the line of Elendil. Because he is a Numenorean, he is related distantly to Elrond through Elros. Aragorn was born in the year TA 2931 to the Ranger Arathorn and his wife Gilraen.
In The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Éowyn asks Aragorn his age and is shocked to learn that he is actually 87 despite looking no older than 40. But it is revealed that Aragorn is one of the Dúnedain—a descendant of Númenor—blessed with long life.
The Númenóreans made Umbar, the harbour city in the south of Middle-earth, into a great fortress and expanded Pelargir, a landing in Gondor near the Mouths of the Anduin. The "King's Men" among the Númenóreans became jealous of Elves for their immortality, resenting the Ban of the Valar, and sought everlasting life.
According to Tolkien, Ar-Pharazôn became obsessed with the idea of immortality. Sauron persuaded him that this could be gained through the worship of Morgoth, leading to the construction of a temple dedicated to the first Dark Lord, and the destruction of the White Tree of Númenor.
"He was Aragorn son of Arathorn, the nine and thirtieth heir in the right line from Isildur, and yet more like Elendil than any before him." Aragorn was a descendant of Elros Tar-Minyatur.

Yes, Sauron willingly went as prisoner to Númenor and took the One Ring with him. He was most delighted to work his evil in Númenor under the guise of a penitent; and he used the Ring to dominate the mind of Ar-Pharazôn and to sway the people of Númenor into the worship of Morgoth.
Because of this letter, it is quite clear that not only did Sauron carry the Ring while he was in Númenor, it was actually the Ring's power that allowed him to so quickly corrupt the kingdom.
The story was abandoned, but Tolkien reused the characters and events. Isildur features briefly in voiced-over flashback sequences of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The video game Middle-earth: Shadow of War departs from Tolkien's narrative by having Sauron make Isildur into a Nazgûl or ringwraith.
Elrond was the half-elven son of Eärendil and Elwing, the father of Arwen, and the Lord of Rivendell who consistently fought against Sauron throughout the Second and Third Ages. He was the twin brother of Elros, who later became the first king of Númenor.
The Numenorean bit is somewhat of a red herring - Numenoreans (other than Elros only) were not Half-Elven. The issue comes from the fact that the whole Half-Elven thing was… complicated.
Sauron did not fear as we think of the word. He was very cautious of the men of Numenor and the remaining Noldor in exile. No other force seemed to give him pause since the First Age. This was his undoing.
Realising he could not defeat the Númenóreans with military strength, Sauron allowed himself to be taken as a hostage to Númenor by King Ar-Pharazôn in S.A. 3262. There, he quickly grew from captive to adviser and was known as Zigûr, the Wizard; he seduced the King and further corrupted the people.
Sauron's forces were driven back from the Grey Havens, and retreating to the Gwathló found their way blocked by the second Númenórean army. Sauron's army was thus pinned between the two forces and mostly wiped out in the ensuing Battle of the Gwathló.
Ar-Pharazôn the Golden was the twenty-fifth and last King of Númenor. He was the son of Gimilkhâd, who was the younger brother of the twenty-fourth King, Tar-Palantir.
Isildur was born in Númenor in the year SA 3209 of the Second Age. His younger brother Anárion was born in SA 3219. They lived at the haven of Rómenna on the east coast of the island of Númenor. Their father was Elendil and their grandfather was Amandil, the Lord of Andúnië.
Elros was approximately the 63rd great-grandfather to Aragorn. This also means that Elrond was his equally distant great-uncle, making Arwen (his wife) his first cousin, 64 times removed.
A legend says that the Wizard Gandalf had brought such a stone, called the Elessar, from Valinor. He gave the Elessar to the Elven Lady Galadriel and remarked prophetically that she would pass it to another, who will also be called Elessar. From this would come Aragorn's royal name Elessar (Quenya for "Elfstone").
