Rachel Dawes was Bruce Wayne's childhood friend and love interest who served as Gotham City's assistant district attorney and fought against corruption in the city. Before her death at the hands of the Joker, she was one of the few people who knew the Batman's true identity.
Towards the end of the film, Rachel visits the remains of Wayne Manor, finding Bruce and Alfred sorting through the wreckage. She and Bruce share a kiss, but she tells him that they cannot be together until Gotham no longer needs Batman, now fully aware of his secret.
Despite their mutual attraction, Rachel decided that they couldn't be together if Bruce was determined to lead a double life. She kissed Bruce goodbye, left him to fulfill his destiny, and hoped that he would come back to her when Batman was no longer needed in Gotham.
Summary. Katie Holmes was replaced by Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes in "The Dark Knight," but her exit was due to personal preference, not creative differences. Holmes left to explore other roles and appeared in the movie "Mad Money" instead.
Batman chooses to save Rachel, while Commissioner Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) moves to save who he thinks is Harvey. But in actuality, The Joker has used Bruce's love for Rachel as an Achilles' Heel, and it leads him to being tricked into really saving Harvey.
While there's no doubt that the Joker tricked Batman into choosing who would die and thus lied about where Rachel was, there's another reason why the Joker had Batman save Harvey Dent.
Rivalries. Over the years, Two-Face had many rivalries with other DC characters, especially the following: Batman -- Although it was the crime lord's fault, Dent had blamed Batman for his facial scarring. He and the Batman had fought each other in over 50 issues of Batman and Detective Comics.
Created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane, the character first appeared in Detective Comics #33 (November 1939). Batman: Three Jokers #1 (August 2020). In Batman's origin story, Joe Chill is the mugger who murders young Bruce Wayne's parents, Dr. Thomas Wayne and Martha Wayne.
The best example of the Joker loving someone is his relationship with Batman. In his mind, the two of them need each other to exist. The truth of course is that Batman despises everything about the Joker, and would be more than happy if he did not exist. Yet, the Joker loves Batman anyway.
The Joker knew that Harvey Dent wasn't the Batman. Nobody in their sane mind would admit to such an obvious cop out. That admission made the Joker realize that Harvey Dent was the weakest link of the three champions of Gotham City. (Batman, Gordon, and Dent) That's why Joker targets him and turns him into Two-Face.
Alfred burns the letter because it's the kindest thing to do. Already grieving for his lost love, learning that Rachel planned to ditch him for Harvey Dent would offer no solace to Bruce, and only deepen his depression.
Remember back to what Batman said to Gordon as he left the interrogation cell, he said he was going for Rachel. The Joker knew Batman would choose her after seeing him dive out of a window for her, so he intentionally mixed up the locations of the two. This was just another way for the Joker to hurt Batman.
In The Dark Knight, Fox was obviously aware that Bruce was Batman- at one point conversing with Bruce in the Batsuit- and actively participated in a support capacity as Bruce's armorer, and provided him with additional equipment such as the Batpod and a new Batsuit that was designed for more efficient mobility.
I'm going to marry Harvey Dent. I love him, and I want to spend the rest of my life with him. When I told you that if Gotham no longer needed Batman we could be together, I meant it. But now I'm sure the day won't come when *you* no longer need Batman.
He knew Jason was killing people, and Batman couldn't live with the shame of knowing that he had unintentionally created a deadlier version of Joe Chill. This explains the tragedy of what kept Batman away but also highlights his own selfishness and irresponsibility.
Should the flipped coin land on the unblemished side, the Joker would live. However, should it fall on the burnt half, he would die. The flip of the coin lands in the Joker's favor, however, and Dent lets the man leave.
It is then revealed that the Joker's real name is "Jack Oswald White." Martha then shares that she visited the Flashpoint universe's version of Jack Oswald White, discovering him to be a struggling family man supporting his wife and a child as a janitor at Wayne Casino.
In Batman Begins, Rachel is introduced as a childhood best friend of Bruce, and goes onto become a romantic interest. However, they aren't able to get the timing right in their relationship, as she goes onto date District Attorney, Harvey Dent.
Harvey became Two-Face due to a combination of Maroni's scarring, untreated mental illness, marital stress and his own personal choices. But one has to wonder if Batman and Gordon ever lay awake at night haunted by the role they played in Harvey's downfall.
With the Joker defeated, he's strung up on the side of a building and left for police to come collect him. Nothing is heard of the character after that, although the fact Batman never hunts him again, it's assumed Joker stayed locked up.
