Venom was someone who cherished and protected innocent life. The only times he'd kill innocent people were when they would get in his way of killing Spider-Man, and even then Venom would show remorse for killing them.
Despite his hatred of Spider-Man, Venom has a twisted sense of morality, avoiding harming anyone he deems to be innocent and even performing heroic deeds.
Since his debut however, Venom has evolved into an antiheroic figure, slowly distancing himself from his initial goal to ruin Spider-Man's life to try and do good instead, even putting aside his differences with and helping Spider-Man at times.
Trivia. This form of Venom is also seen in Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, as an alternate costume for Venom. Both this Venom and his Earth-616 counterpart have consumed people on multiple occasions.
As Eddie receives his job back, he allowed Venom to stay in his body under the condition that Venom only eats "bad people." Venom agrees and begins by devouring a thug robbing a grocery store. Eddie is last seen visiting a state prison as he is about to do an interview with a dangerous convict named Cletus Kasady.

Who does Venom hate?
The Venom symbiote's animosity toward Spider-Man stems from its initial bond with him. In the comics, Spider-Man rejected the symbiote when he realized it was trying to permanently bond with him, and he removed it. This rejection left the symbiote with a strong sense of betrayal and anger.
Despite being disgusted and frightened by the Venom symbiote's bloodlust, Eddie quickly grows to revel in the power it gives him, and is offended and outraged when he discovers that it has been consuming him from the inside-out.
(Venom(2020)issue#24) He fears losing his son, a fear related to his previous fear of being completely alone. He fears being left alone with his own thoughts, he fears living with no one at his side, that's why he was so dependent of the symbiote back in the day.
phenethylamine is a chemical compound that acts as a central nervous system stimulant in humans, affects our mood. The compound is present in our brain too. That's why venom has craving for our heads.
The food goes into Eddie but the Symbiote helps with its disposal. It is revealed that the saliva Venom constantly spits out is actually the remains of the food he eats.
Venom came to empathize with Eddie's status as a "loser", eventually deciding to turn on its own kind and save the Earth from being invaded. The symbiote ultimately agreed to work alongside Eddie as a vigilante, to only hurt bad people despite its own confusion of how it can tell the difference of who is good or bad.
Venom's symbiote has explained on many occasions that the Klyntar planet is practically devoid of emotions, yet over time he knows that he forms genuine love for Eddie. Venom bonds more with Eddie and experiences guilt, jealousy, and sadness over his other half.
Most folks are familiar with the fact that the symbiote who would come to be known as Venom first bonded with Peter Parker. It got a taste of the power of Spider-Man and grew to love that power. It grew to love the feeling of the wind on its face swinging through the city. It loved the force behind every punch.
During this time Venom managed to convince a pursuing Spider-Man that he was dedicated to protecting innocent people enough to solicit his help; though Spider-Man remained wary of Venom's ruthless aggression. He managed to incapacitate the other symbiotes, and escaped the Life Foundation.
Dylan peppered Eddie with questions, the most pressing being where Venom's mantra of "protecting the innocent" came from. Unfortunately, it all boiled down to a tragic day in Eddie's past that resulted in the death of a young boy.
While we never got to see the original female version of Venom, Eddie Brock's ex Anne Weying did at one point bond with the symbiote to become She-Venom.
As previously stated, the Venom symbiote (as well as a few others) has the ability to live independently from a host, in a humanoid form of his choosing.
But why does Venom lick the TV with Peter's face on it? Besides communicating the apparent fact that Venom wants to eat brains — and Peter's looks tasty to Venom — Venom's hunger appears to be proof of an intrinsic attraction to Peter Parker.
What wasn't revealed until later was the reason behind the symbiotes needing a host. Venom needs a host to survive because of the Symbiote's need to consume phenethylamine, a chemical found in the human brain.
He hates Spiderman because he thinks he is the cause of all the bad luck in his life. Venom is bigger and stronger then Spiderman. His webbing is much stronger then that of of Spiderman. His weakness is Super Sonic noises such as the ringing of church bells.
Extremely loud sounds (or extremely high frequency sound waves) can shock the symbiote, and even cause him to separate from his host. Spider-Man discovered this not long after meeting Venom.
In the present, he attempts to use Eddie Brock to investigate Cletus Kasady, but is seemingly killed during a battle between the Venom and Carnage symbiotes and Barrison. However, he absorbs a piece of one of the symbiotes, which later revives him and causes his eyes to glow blue.
He can perpetually hear the symbiote's voice inside of his head, though no one else can hear it. Eddie talks to Venom while they're walking around. This gives off the appearance that Brock is perpetually talking to himself, which just underscores the fact that people think he's nuts.
Basically, the symbiote didn't attempted to talk with Peter because it wanted to remain loyal and obedient like a servant. It didn't felt the need to talk to him, only to serve him.
Summary. Dylan Brock faces his biggest challenge as Carnage finally kills Venom in a shocking turn of events in Venom #31. In the Un-Beyond, Dylan encounters the most powerful version of Eddie Brock, known as the Eventuality, hinting at potential power-ups.
