However, he later founds the voice of reason again and reedemed himself by fighting alongside his friends which prevented him from being an actual villain of the film.
Jones mortally wounds Will. Jack, who now possesses Jones' heart guides Will's hand to stab the heart and kill Jones. Bootstrap carves out his son's heart and places it in the Dead Man's Chest. Will becomes the Flying Dutchman's immortal captain.

The Flying Dutchman was a sea captain who once found himself struggling to round the Cape of Good Hope during a ferocious storm. He swore that he would succeed even if he had to sail until Judgment Day. The Devil heard his oath, and took him up on it; the Dutchman was condemned to stay at sea forever.
Right before the film's climactic battle with the pirates at Isla de Muerta, Sparrow swipes a cursed coin from the treasure chest, making himself immortal and capable of dueling Barbossa. He shoots his nemesis with the pistol he has carried for ten years just as Will breaks the curse, killing Barbossa.

Her speed is derived from several factors such as the large number of sails she carries and being partly supernatural. Will Turner seems to betray Jack on every occasion he can. In Dead Man's Chest, he ends up hunting Jack to save Elizabeth from being sentenced to death, all to give the compass to Lord Beckett.
They are then attacked by the East India Company. During the battle, Will secretly promises to give Jack to Feng in return for the Pearl, intending to use it to rescue his father "Bootstrap Bill" Turner from the Flying Dutchman. The crew rescue Jack and recover the Pearl.
The crew of the Black Pearl needs Will Turner's blood to lift the curse because they killed his father. This would be unnecessary if Will's father never partook of the gold, and if he did, he would be subject to the curse himself, which is that he cannot die.
