PETERSCHMIDT: That extinct shark is a megalodon, the meg in question. Totally real shark. It was the largest shark that ever swam the ocean. It was about 60 feet long and lived around 2.5 million years ago.

While a similar length, the Megalodon had a much more robust body and huge jaws built for devouring whales and other large marine mammals.
